Can it be done without de-raiding then re-raiding and format? since the chipset is only 2 gen apart. Because I know you can go X38 t<-> X58 in raid setups without any changes last I knew.

it may but i dont think that it will. NV is notorious for bad raid support and your comparing a an ich9r to an ich10r and they are the same chipset tthe 10 is just a shrink and tweak.
