    P4 2660 and 2800 selling now!

    The P4 2.6 and 2.8 are selling in Japan since Friday this week, at the same time the massive price cut has been implemented. Here is more information: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...threadid=87287

    Prices in Japan:

    2530 = 250 USD
    2660 = 420 USD
    2800 = 540 USD

    Both new CPU have the new smaller die which according to Intel enables higher frequencies and and are running at 1.515 volt. But it's still the old stepping. The C1 stepping will be implemented in October.

    I got myself a P4 2.66. I'm currently busy with a few other things, so I did not yet challenge the CPU seriously. It's running aircooled with 1.65 volt 2.66@3.3 on the BD7-II , it's 100% stable at 3200Mhz. I can boot into W2K up to 3360mhz, but it's soon crashing then. I assume this sample goes with the pin wire mod (1.9 volt) up aircooled up to 3400 and vapochilled to 3600 Mhz. This is not bad at all considering we have here a CPU with a 20x multi.

    always skipping one step is the best, otherwise we get crazy. I skipped the GF4 altogether, what a joke this vdicard is, just 2000 or 3000 points more than my GF3. Wait 3 more months and bingo
    .... a P4 3000 with Hyperthreading is for grabs.

    yes, that is what I have in mind! Unfortunately I sold my very well running P4T533 already, it made it to 172 Mhz with RIMM 4200.
    Now waiting for the Epox 4T4A, this RIMM 4200-32 board has the new ICH4 and DIMM voltage.

    Why did you sell it, if it was working well?

    I think with the power that a 3.6-3.7 GHz P4 draws, getting to 170x4 might be a little difficult. Because it works at 2.8G doesnt mean it will at 3.7.... with this board

    I meant the 2.66 Ghz cpu. 20x multiplier.
    That's why I said "a good working" board.

    I always sell my stuff after 2 or 3 weeks We have a lot of very satisfied P4T533 owners here by the way. My board is now in Australia and the new owner is also very happy with it.

    maybe changing all 2 or 3 weeks is extreme, but waiting until November is a little long.

    Chainbolt,

    Actually that 2-3 week turn around seems a smart move if you can swing it. You are always on the cutting edge with the newest stuff which has to be exciting. You get the pleasure of testing it out, tweaking and playing with it and then unload it when most people are just starting to seriously consider upgrading to it. They have the assurance of tested hardware and a good idea of what it will do and you don't take a beating on the price because the market is still hot for it. It's a very interesting stradegy and not as crazy as it seems at first glance.

    Macci,

    Good to see you
    So what would be expected from a Prometeia, 3800??
    I'm thinking maybe about 300 over good air, it seems that is what I average, I get this with both the 2.26 and the 2.53.

    Lets see 180.49 x 21 = 3790 MHz

    On the IT7 that would have the memory run at 239 Mhz, this might come out to be a nice 3D score.
    I tryed the Rambus mobos and I had no luck, I get a much better clock with my IT7.
    Somebody get me 2.8g P4

    the 2.66 doesnt seem to be much "back" in overclocking compared to the 2.8, I'm going to try and scrape the money together for a 2.66 (see, I dont get stuff ) and see how that works. 190x20 on phase change (or more likely, dry ice) with RDRAM would be pretty cool I think. Then of course the catch is, I cant do any frikkin 3Dmark cos no way I can afford even 1/2 of a R 9700

    I've got a 2.8. Extremely stable on air at 3300MHz / 1.6v under load. Benches at 3400+ with more volts.

    I'm hoping it will do 3.6+ with a Prometeia.
