    I'm testing the 6850 in my old 940 rig. That's the one I'm passing on to my nephew. I tried Heaven v2.1 default @ 1920x 945|1150. So far it seems like a solid little card for the asking price.

    Little question for the people with an 68XX. Is the Accelero S1 rev2 compatible for mounting on the core with these new cards?
    Now i am become death , the destroyer of worlds.

    Changing the config file in MSI Afterburner 2.1.0 b2 will allow you to take the CPU and Mem clocks much higher (1265/1495).
    It still doesn't give voltage control though...

    These changes work on my Sapphire 6870. It didn't really help for me, the best my card can do stable @ stock V's is 950/1150.

    Go to the MSI Afterburner folder (should be in C:Users/username).
    Open the file "MSIAfterburner.cfg" using notepad.
    Edit the following 2 items:
    unlockvoltagecontrol = 1
    enableunofficialoverclocking = 1

    Then use the "save as" option with File Type "All Files" and select Save.

    This should let you run higher clocks than what CCC allows.

    Hope this helps....... Dave
    Awesome, tried this out last night but my Sapphire 6870 called it quits at 1050MHz (stock memory), hard lock ups after 1045MHz. I really hope we can see 1150MHz out of the core once we get voltage control. But I doubt I'll be able to live with myself using the stock leafblower "about to take off into space" cooling solution Hell anything over 40% is unbearable!

    Be very careful with this.
    Asking where to get a key free is pushing it, but is still technically acceptable.
    Posting of how or where to get a free key illegally will be allowed.
    Now if there is a way to get a key that is legal and within the EULA of Vantage, it is fine, just be careful. We cannot allow pirating in any shape way or form.
    i.e. we gotta be dicks or the site gets toasted...

    So please be careful with this sort of discussion.

    actually i thought about online promotions as i remember several vantage giveaways with different hardwaresites or manufacturers...

    I installed it and for some weird reason I get really low 3DMark06 numbers. Doesn't affect anything but 3DMark06 scores.

    Also I tried it on a buddy's system with one sapphire 6870 and my msi 6870. When I would do the unofficial oc it would lock up with any setting change so I left it standard but couldn't go past 1,000MHz. This only happened with crossfire. Individual cards didn't have issues.

    ahh.. i had no idea.. interesting..

    2.1 beta 2 seems stable to me, not having any issues so far.

    core clock is capped @ 1014mhz and working on my mem clocks now, looking good at 1240 so far.

    That would be me also. I used TX-4. I setup the user defined fan. 37% is was at 43c before. Now 37c. I rarely go past 58c with fan going to 66% on benchmarks. Before I was past 70c with fan kicking up to 80%.

    awesome! good to hear. yeah i have some MX-2 ill have to try that when i get mine.

    what was that older trick that people used for Ati cards having to do with the backplates and putting spacers to increase the pressure on the heatsink, does that still apply to these cards? i wonder if that would help or work.

    hopefully ati will put more effort into there cooling for the cayman as nvidia did with the gtx480.
