I PM'd him about the noise, here's what he had to say -

"Its pretty loud at 70%, though you can turn it down, didn't really notice much cooling difference when I turned it down."

I ordered a pair of Sapphire 6850s which should get here tomorrow.
Hey Hemi thanks for the info but i only use the 4890 tirfire for benchmarking for the forum warz, but for everyday use i use only 1x4890

At first its loud, when you install CCC by default and it sets to 70% for some reason, but set it to 20% and it will be quiet. Gigabyte did a good job cooling this card.

Ahh. A friend is in the same situation. Since none of the guides have the 68xx mixed in with all the cards yet, we tried to guesstimate where they position using these two charts:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/3987/a...ange-market/12

    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/175?vs=164

*Since the numbers differ from the Anandtech's "Bench" to the 6800 series review for the 5850, I added/subtracted the % difference of the 5850 to adjust the 4890 numbers.

    HAWX 1920x1200:
    6850CF - 169
    5870 - 102
    6870 - 101
    5850 - 89
    6850 - 88
    4890 -69*

    Mass Effect 1920x1200:
    6850CF - 112
    5870 - 73.1
    6870 - 64.9
    5850 - 61.9
    6850 - 59.2
    4890 -53.3*

$360 for a pair of small/cool/quiet 6850s was just too attractive

    Hope this helps.
