No guides I've seen out there chew* . Everything you need is at Techpowerup.com . Grab the RBE tool , HP usb format tool , Atiflash tool , Your O & 1 bios's off GPUZ . Get that all set up and I can walk you through the rest . If your familiar with flashing ati cards it will be much easier for me . Set your usb stick up for bootable DOS , there is instructions on that on the HP usb tool down load area . What partners 5970 you have ?

I got a ref giga card,

Familiar with flashing and modding, cards already modded to keep ram from low power states as it has desktop issues in 2d with low power states.

Okay your all set then . Open RBE and GPUZ . Asus 5970 0 is master and 1 is slave . Your card may be reversed . To see type atiflash -i and atiflash -ai and you can see what cores 0 & 1 are , do this in DOS of coarse . I type dir to and see all my files . Okay so now load bios 0 from GPUZ to RBE and go to advanced and change the uplimits to what you want , I did 1200 core & 1500 memory . Save that bios and where you saved it rename it to 5970bios0.rom and leave . Do the same for bios1 so that one will be 5970bios1.rom . Put your stock 0 & 1 bios from GPUZ on the usb stick and put the RBE new bios's on the usb stick . Stock bios will be bin files but keep the RBE modded bios's rom . Now your ready to boot into DOS and Flash Master and slave then reboot and done , Im relying though since you do normal ati bios flashing that you set up your usb stick correct with atiflash and HP files also on it with old and new bios files . You will know you flashed each bios correct when it shows your old bios and new bios and asked you to reboot to finish . Don't reboot if it only shows restart to finish , make sure it shows old bios and new bios after you typed your Commands in , example: atiflash -p 0 5970bios0.rom then enter , then atiflash -p 1 5970bios1.rom . Reboot after both showed old bios and new bios and done ( type both bio's in before you reboot ) . Chew make sure you atiflash -i and -ai to be sure you know what core your master is and slave is and type first command for master and second for slave using the correct bios file , don't guess be sure to look , you will be unlocked with your new clocks and loving it ! I used RBE 1 year ago about when I first got my card and it didn't take , this time however it worked fine and my card is as stable as it was . Very easy guys especially if your familiar with flashing gpu bio's in DOS . Any thoughts let me know . Keep in mind there are other RBE mods we can do as well like all the cards 2d states but for now modding just the clocks is most important and all that's needed . One more thing I do in DOS before I flash is I always save to there my original stock bio's by typing for example my Asus 5970: atiflash -s 0 asusbios0.bin click enter then atiflash -s 1 asusbios1.bin click enter and done and saved . Questions let me know and show me your new CCC limits when your done . Be aware if you make a mistake you will brick your cards and you will need another card to recover the bricked card , also this can void you manufactures warranties . Hate saying that but needs to be said lol . Also chew sounds like we could mod your 2d states as well if your still having annoying 2d problems .

Good stuff pcnazz, I still think I'm going to install a water block on my 5970 first. Then maybe install water blocks on my 5870's also.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

i modded my eah5970 bios a while ago. set the overdrive limits to 1250/1800, although i will never use 1250 on the core or 1800 on the gddr, itīs nice to have
the 2d issue with flickering and stuff only happens when u enable two monitors.
when u enable 2 or more monitors, overdrive will automatically up the clocks, so there is no flickering, but also a little more powerdraw.
