    Single Stage in a 13.5" x 8" Footprint?

I've been dormant on XS for quite awhile now but as I'm gearing up to start on my next case mod I feel that it might be time to expand my knowledge of phase change systems with the goal of building my own single stage unit.

I'm giving myself the challenge of fitting an SR1-240 inside my TJ08 for an internal h2O loop but I suddenly have the urge to take the next step and try to integrate a phase change system for the CPU. I know this might be negating some of the benefits of a mATX system but in my eyes the case is an interesting challenge more than it is a hard-set guide.

So now to my question, would it be feasible to fit a half decent single stage system into a footprint no larger then 13.5x8 inches? The system intended for this project is an LGA1366 i7 build and I wasn't sure if I'm working with to small a space to build something that could handle a decently overclocked i7.

It'll be hard, i'll tell you that!

Look at one of LittleDevils builds:

    That footprint is 8x16,5 inches.

For a decently overclocked i7 you would actually need a even bigger condensor, making the footprint even bigger.

I wonder to what extent I would effect the overclock if I used what fit...with the lost cooling potential would it still be beneficial over a decent h2O setup?

Just trying to push the envelope a bit...

Depends on what chip. Watercooled condenser would let you trim the size but then you'll need a water barrel or radiator to dump that heat.

    Did someone say rotary?
Sounds like a tough fit, I cannot wait tosee how you progress!
What if the hokey pokey really is what it is all about?

My main goal with this project is to fit as much as possible within/onto this TJ08 chassis. I'm eager to blow people away with this build but I'm unsure as to the viability of the cooling capability. I dont want to be as lazy as to say "someone show me what to use" but being that there's a huge cash/time investment with phase change I want to do as much as possible to make sure I'll be investing wisely.

    Space is 3 dimensional.........you only gave 2.....
    The Laws of Thermodynamics say:

Zeroth Law: "You must play the game."
    First Law: "You can't win."
Second Law: "You can't break even."
Third Law: "You can't quit the game."

Do you wanna Play Thermodynamics ???????? I forgot "you must"

I wouldn't say height is a HUGE concern and it was mostly the depth of the chassis that I thought would be a concern.

The more I think and talk about a single stage unit the more I want to do a scratch build case mod to I corporate phase natively...argh. :p
