    Shuttle AN53N vdd/vcore/vmem/vbt(?)

    Anyone got these?

The VDD mod is either the chip among teh caps below the AGP slot (like Abit NF7) or the one below the dimm slot I guess..

I'll have high res pics when the board arrives.

Only thing I dont really like is ATX header placement.. what were they thinking??

    Bump.

Board should be here in a couple days, will check back then...

Noting where the ATX header and +12v header are, maybe the processor is driven from the +12 line and the ram from the +5v, if i'm lucky?

    Hiya m8,

Sorry I didnt reply sooner, been buisy.. but im ill off work today (flue) so I have a little spare time.

The green bits should be measure points (you may have to poke about a bit)

And the Red chips "should" be the Vregs... if you can give me the part numbers ill start working on the mods.

Closeup pics of those spots will also help allot...

that is for a different shuttle board, but i looked at mine and it has identical circuitry for the mem voltage regulation. the 2.7v limit surprised me since everything else is so tweakable in the bios... oh well, void your warranty and dump some juice into those chips

(by the way, i don't take credit for your success or failure with this mod, somebody posted a couple months ago that it worked on their an35n)

Seeing as the vdimm is a simple 2.2k -> gnd, does the board need a VDDQ mod?

    VDDQ, not VDD.

That aside, this one brick walls at 167.7fsb/208ram for me..... ???

Forgot to mention that apparently the scanner upstairs really sucks at scanning anything with depth to it... so no high res pics/scans

Wish that HP scanner I got for $10 hadnt died.. it did "3d" scans exceptionally well...

Running 1:1, the best I ever got that board was 214 FSB POST and 211 into Win2k, unstable.

It ran Win2k 208 stable, which matches your wall. Needs more Vdimm IMO...

vdimm doesnt seem to affect its top...

I've tried both my BH-6 sticks, both my TCC4 sticks, and mixes of the two, and in any setup if I losen the timings right off then it still tops at the same spot reguardless of the vdimm.

I even have a waterblock and 86w pelt on the nb right now.... still no good!

sorry for my bad, i don't know, what is VDDQ?

run 1:1 i can run fsb220 with my BH6 but loose timmings,

    i really don't know why my BH6 can't run cl2225 @ >fsb200 1:1, but in my Soltek 75FRN2 my BH6 can run up to fsb220 1:1 cl2225.

    now i'm running 1:1 fsb210 cl2,5 233 -> Apacer pc2700 chip Apacer.

VDDQ is the internal voltage of the memory chips.

I measured and got 1.5v on my ram (touch to one side of those small ceramic caps) on the AN35N at 2.56vdimm, didnt remember to test at 2.7.. and its all in peices now.. heh.

On or near the top of your sticks of ram (most ram.. my TCC4's have them on the back and stuff) are small ceramic capacitors. They're basically brownish peices of ceramic with a peice of metal on each end... they're tiny..

Touch a DMM to either side and it should say something near 1.25-1.5 at stock I think.. not overly sure, though.

Any of the ones closest the top will do.

on BH-6 you should see a fat trace attached to them, too... mine do 8-)

    EDIT

I killed the board by shutting it off... or so it seems.

    No post, anyways...

    Woohoo!

Dunno what I did, but i've got the bugger going now!

Still measuring 1.5 off the ceramic caps at 2.7v, so it may not be the proper measurement location... gonna have to do more poking around.

Anywho, have the board 8x210 max post/240 max ram fsb post (asynch)/8x205 stable so far.

Only problem is I have to give the CPU thats on it right now to someone as its apparently not paid for...

Oh well, at least I know it works now

Need to find a CPU to use for testing...

    Shuttle.

Time to throw some volts at it and see where I can go

Ok, so what do I need to do for the VDD mod? I'll slap on the VDIMM if i need it..

    EDIT

Information I forgot and just did more poking...

    - RT9302 is the one I have labeled as CS5871.. got the wrong string off it.
    - The mosfet above the RT9302 is the vAGP mosfet. 1.55v.
    - The left leg of the mosfet closest the first PCI slot and the back of the mosfet below it closest the AGP slot both register as 1.67v.
    - Right leg of mosfet mentioned above shows 3.0v.

    Search button is handy: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...der=descending

    EDIT

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...819#post284819 Yup, very handy indeed! 1K to ground seems to be the way to go

Well, apparently thats not gonna work.

Tried "FB" (which reads as 11.84v on my DMM) and it didnt respond at all.... kept going and it eventually just locked up.

    Im confused again.

    EDIT

Tried the 2.2k -> ground memory mod, it maxed out at 2.9v
