Definitely a solid winner at the $250 price point without even factoring in OC potential and OC'd performance.

I was going to wait until next gen but this card is hitting all the right points for me needs.

I dont think the same:

New HD6950 1GB wich is faster, less power consumption, $259 (newegg, $269 2GB). Should be an option if your case doesn't have enough space for a 6950. This was preditable, it wasn't mean to compete againts the 570 for obvious reasons.

Now HD6870 1GB can be had for $199-219 and 950Mhz+ version por less than $230.

A good release to start some "price-wars", everyone wins.

There are also several good looking games coming up in the spring / summer and most of the new $225 - $300 cards will do very well for them.

And with all these new price-cuts, releases the only excuse to invest $300+ on a GPU is for Eyefinity/3D high res setups. Same trend until new consoles (2012~)

nVidia did a really good job with the performance and power usage on 560. 560 is really good improvement, and a true follower of 460 (which has been the ground breaker of it's time). It turned out to be a little OC-mounter too.

But the fight is not over, it's just starting. The final chapter of this round will be written in a price-war. Mainstream is all about price/performance, after all, and AMD is not fatally behind when it comes performance either.

nVidia has the upper hand in performance/OCing/power-usage, but the "price" is really important in mainstream marked. A good price-drop on 6950-1GB/2GB can still present challenges for nVidia.

It will be really interesting to see follow the upcoming price-drops and price-war. But we all like that part

When prices and performance are close features/capabilities become more important. In my case I use a single 30" for gaming at 25x16 and gaming isn't so important to me that I need high end video cards nor do I need more than two monitor capability or 3dvision really. The features that is currently leaning me more towards the 560 is OC'ability & physx.

I'm definitely waiting for the first round of price wars before I finally decide but the card is looking good enough that I'm feeling the upgrade bug.

yeah some people go for for some features/capabilities too, but when performance are close, the price will became really important. Specially in mainstream which the fight is not for capturing the performance-crown, but its for getting the best price/performance-ratio.

Yeah, next days/weeks will be a really good time to be in marked for GPU-shopping.

i think its best said that there is no wrong answer right now
and the answer will only get righter as prices continue to plummet.

Looks to be a very attractive option. Assuming the OC varients are reasonably priced looks like a good alternative to the 6950 1GB. I'm still suprised with how little difference there is between 1-2GB of VRAM given how much some people are here making a big deal out of it. It seems if you don't own a 30" LCD or a multidisplay setup, 1GB of VRAM is still sufficient for the majority of stock games ( ie no texture mods ) with moderate AA and resolution (sub 1920x1200).

According to other reviews and afterburner screenshots, 1150 mv is the maximum that can be used.

Some people have been getting over 1050 Mhz.

I think top-blue line is for 4870 x 2, not 560, but I haven't seen the test. If that's for 560, then something seams really wrong.

That particular test GPU may have some kind of bug (bad PWM, or something similar .. ), or something else out of ordinary. It would be really strange 560 would use more than 570 in some games.

damn, like Anand said, Nvidia has improved performance by 30% by the same chip at the same node. that is something. that and AMD's 1 GB 69xx series means good news for all of us. go competition!

now if only nvidia had eyefinity....

The Geforce GTX 560 Ti was a great performing card in our benchmark tests. It was keeping up with and sometimes beating the AMD Radeon HD 6970, and bad drivers or not for the AMD card, that is still an amazing accomplishment. The GTX 560 handled the games well and kept the FPS at a very playable level in all of our tests. This was great to see as it had big shoes to fill trying to be the next great mid-range video card. The temperatures were outstanding as well from the new GF114 silicon, which also helped keep the power output barely above the GTX 460. Price/performance wise, this card looks to be the one to beat in the mid-range market. AMD will definitely need to figure out a way to combat this card or they will be in serious trouble. With the near silent cooling solution on the card, while still being able to get the temperature results that we did, we could not be happier.

If you are on a budget, and looking to get the most bang for your buck, the GTX 560 Ti is something definitely worth looking into. Although it is only capable of SLI (sorry those of you who wanted more than two, no Tri or Quad SLI here) it would still be a great SLI solution for people looking to go that route, while still trying to save some money. With an MSRP of $249, the 560 Ti is very pleasing to the wallet for most people who will be looking for an upgrade. The Hunter is loose, and from the looks of it, it’s mean!

They improved nothing, it's the chip without the castration due to yield issues(460).

In what games, 560 and 6950 1GB are neck to neck with the latter offering a bit more performance. Their duty was that, now we have dual bang for buck options.

A definite achievement for NVIDIA.
Improving the whole line of mid-to-high-end GPUs to give similar performance-per-die-size with AMD GPUs.
