New build help for an old memeber!

Have not been back for YEARS! Business, and taking care of Family, etc, etc.

I have Built some Hairy stuff for it's time on here... Check my old Threads!

Had a Horrible thing happen... A Bad storm in the NY/NJ area... Took all my Rigs out even with UPS, and Surge Protectors.

SO... My Trusty 2003 Pentium4 has bit the dust... Lasted 7 years OVERCLOCKED AND OVERVOLTED

SO... I'm looking to build a i7 Core 930 Bloomfield on a ASUS Rampage III

Questions with Corsair Dominator 3X4GB & FAN. Will Noctua 14 FIT WITH THIS COMBINATOIN Motherboard & ram?

i would not get a R3E if you are going to be benching any 3D over 5ghz
its bclk limited to ~220mhz so its useless with locked multi cpus.

It's not exactly BCLK limited, it's just shown that few samples can push over 220 (4000MHz QPI) without slow mode.

Mine drops 3D scores about 40% from 220 to 222.

If you're not interested in 3D and just want Pi and WPrime stuff, there is no board better.

Mine hit 266 BCLK and I'll be trying for even higher in the near future.

The Noctua is big and so are those Corsair sticks. I'm not sure if they'll fit that well.


With that said, I believe you've posted this in the wrong section. Hopefully one of the mods can get it sorted out.

I hit 240 bclk with 480 no prob... older bios.. though... might be an issue with one of the newer 3d bios's... on the R3E.

I also had to RMA mine.... lol...
