    GTX480 Cooling

Hi let me start of by saying i'v been out of the air cooling loop for over a year now. I need to buy a new cooler for my GTX480, i'm sure everyone knows why. I'v already got 2x Thermalright HR-03's from older video cards, I just checked this morning and one will mount to my GTX480 just perfectly. However I know I need the vrm heatsink, which is no problem to get. I checked the TR website and they don't say it is compatible. My question is, is there any reason why I shouldn't use my HR-03 on my GTX480? Or did they not list it because their trying to sell their new heatsinks.

    Thanks

I don't think the Hr-03 will be enough. How many heat pipes does it have and what size?

The GT version of the HR-03 should be ok but you must pair it with their VRM heatsink, VRM G2.

How does it compare to the spitfire? That has good temps from what I've seen. It's also super massive.

I dont either that Hr-03 will be enough.. But Zalman VF3000N is more than enough to cool GTX480 and its fairly silent also!

So let's say you buy the VF3000F from Zalman, for your GTX480... can't you just leave the thick alu stockplate on the mems and vregs and just screw the Zalman on the GPU?
That saves a lot of trouble, I mean click off the plastic shroud, unscrew the GPU heatsink, mount the Zalman and you're ready (or the Thermalright cooler...)

Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
Me: what PSU was that again?
