This Thread is for the Gigabyte X58A-UD5 Rev 2.0 thread. It's the newest revision of the X58A-UD5 that gigabyte has out. Im going to gather all the info i have about it and post it in one place.

yea i love it, except for my chip it really can perform. Nice power phases, low temps on the nb side, its cooled nicely, but a lot of people cut off the heat pipes, i dont i just put tiny fans to cool the mosfets and nb. The options in bios are very nice, i like the load line calibration levels, it has level 1 for slight llc, level2 for llc, and standard for stock intel. The pci-e can be taken up as high as you need, and i've heard of this board doing 230+ very easily with a capable chip like the 980x.

your 950 should do fairly well with that 23x multi. One more thing, Today i picked up an OCZ agility2 and i installed windows, and i did not enable SMART b/c i have the most recent non-beta and i didn't want to try the beta or have to use it all the time, i didn't have any problems though, even though if you enable smart it should fail. This drive rocks btw, feels twice as fast as my velociraptor.

The FB Bios dated "2010/08/24" already have the smart fix with sandforce drivers and it is newer than the latest beta bios.

I added ud7 voltage read points, its similar to the ud5 in layout so some of the points are similar but what is even better about the article is about how close the acutal to displayed voltages are. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-19.html

Any chance we could get a title change and make this the GA-X58A-UD5/UD7 rev 2.0 Discussion Thread? I think those of us with the 2.0 boards should band together

sure thing, they are basically the same boards, except the heatsink and a few other things. I cannot understand why gigabyte lowered the number of phases from 24 to 16 for the rev 2.0 ud7. Can some of you gigabyte experts answer that one..... or was it just to cut cost so the ud9 would sell? Or was it to integrate the 8 on and 8off phase thing? Or in general was it just easier to manufacture? I can see how the proce difference now between the two boards are soooo small, almost the cost of including those extra heatsinks, or else if it has 24 phases everyone would spend the extra 30bucks.

    How to Install C300 Series Drives on X58A-UD3R, X58A-UD5, X58A-UD7, X58A-UD9, "Correc

    How to Install C300 Series Drives on X58A-UD3R, X58A-UD5, X58A-UD7, X58A-UD9, "Correctly"
First Step is to go into bios and goto Integrated Peripherals
Set GSATA 6_7/IDE Controller make sure it is enabled, then set GSATA 6_7/IDE Ctrl Mode to AHCI

Make sure you plus your drive into one of the first 2 white ports that touch the blue ones, only the first two on top of each other are SATA3, the bottom one is the Master.

Second Step is to Install Windows 7, but DO NOT provide drivers for the Marvell SE9128 Controller, at this time the drivers are TERRIBLE. So let windows install its own MSAHCI drivers, it will do this automatically. At this point if you run windows experience index score will be 5.9 for your drive, if you have enabled AHCI mode in the bios.

When you go into windows the Marvell Controller will not be installed. You need to install Marvell Mangi Console, this does not install drivers for the drive, just for the controller. Direct Link "Marvell Console"
Extract then install. After installation your windows experience index will shoot up to its maximum at 7.9. You have Success. Enjoy.
