    Bloodrage and GTX 460

So I know the GTX 470 had problems with the Bloodrage, but I'm wondering if the GTX 460 also has problems with the board?

I'm running the P06 bios that came with the board and would rather not flash to another bios because I have my OC settings dialed in with minimum voltages for 4.0 GHz.

    Thanks.

My buddy had his system over at my place a couple days ago, he's got a Bloodrage GTI and GTX 275. I wanted to see how my MSI GTX 460 Cyclone performed on his system. System does not boot up with all three RAM sticks. Could only use one RAM stick for the motherboard to boot and run fine with the 460.

    1 more question.

Where are the pcb voltage sensor readouts? That is, where do I put my multimeter on the motherboard to read voltages? The manual doesn't say. Thanks.

You can use either G40 or G42 beta bioses with GTX4xx cards. G38 beta is the last version without proper memory support with these video cards. About the voltage readouts - you will find them next to the memory slots :

why aren't these bioses on the foxconn site?

I know the G40 is on the quantum force site and the G42 is here:
    http://67.90.82.13/forums/showthread.php?t=255397

But strange how the G42 is not on the quantum force site too.

who know, just be happy that i release bios on here
i don't care about the website, they need so much work done on them and the way you have to look for stuff is hard

the normal foxconn web sit will never put up beta bios. that just the way it is,
so just keep watching here and you may see another bios turn up as i should have some soon

    thanks

    quick question on flashing.

if I have the jumper to force bios 1, then bios 1 gets flashed when I flash?

if I have a bad flash and have to use the jumper to force bios 2, how do I flash bios 1?

move the jumper to try bios 2 if failed then bios 1
when you in windows use the live updater (make sure you got the latest) then you can select which bios you want to flash

Do you work for Foxconn or are you just doing this for "fun?"

I see 8 places to put the sensor. There's nothing wrong with placing the meter at all 8 places and seeing what each spot gives me?

We are happy and the benefits from your effort are real - for example, a short test result with the latest G42 beta bios, which introduces odd uncore multipliers:

Half a hour stable with x19 ucore, resulting in 4072mhz uncore frequency @4.5ghz cpu. Before G42, this was impossible - x18 too low and x20 too high .

Are we allowed to make an additional request about one more feature?

Yep, as Lord Trident said - one common GND point and 7 places. Just be careful with multimeter/oscilloscope probes.

Here are my voltage readings just fyi.

    from the bottom up.

idle - load in prime 95

    1.12 - 1.13
    1.5 - 1.51
    1.11 - 1.12
    1.62 - 1.64
    1.17 - 1.18
    .96 - 1.28
    1.78 - 1.79

I have my rig OC'd to 4.0 (191 x 21) with all voltage settings at stock except for the cpu uncore which is set to the first tick up (+20mV or 40mV whichever is 1 tick for the uncore can't remember)

interesting findings is that I have the ram voltage set to 1.6 and in load it gets to 1.64.

Anybody know which voltage is the uncore?

Under load Vcore and Vmem voltages are rising - this is for stability reasons when people do overclocking and is a feature, not a bug . The uncore voltage is 1.1V_CPU_VTT - third one from right on the picture . And you measured there 1.17-1.18V - the bold line in quote.

Personally I do not understand why all AMD users are so unsatisfied people. Because of my long-term observations in another hw/oc forum - AMD clockers always complain about one or another thing and always are unsatisfied with their oc results .

    Thanks dude.

My voltages were put down starting from the left to the right. I think you meant to say my uncore voltage was 1.17 - 1.18.

    1.12 - 1.13
    1.5 - 1.51
    1.11 - 1.12
    1.62 - 1.64
    1.17 - 1.18
    .96 - 1.28
    1.78 - 1.79

BTW, I've been doing some research and the setting, "cpu droop compensation". I have it set to disabled on the P06 bios.

I think they "fixed" it on some of the newer bioses. On the newer bios, what is the recommended setting. Am I right to assume that I don't want the system to add more voltage on load because there could be spikes.

My mistake, sorry about it, fixed. About "cpu droop compensation" - Disabled is the recommended setting in all cases. More info you may find here:

Also P06 is too old bios version nowadays, you should use at least P09/10 or try some beta bioses - G38/40/42.
