AMD Catalysts to be available on Steam

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Sept. 15, 2010 — AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced its collaboration with Valve to deliver ATI Catalyst™ graphics driver updates via its Steam platform, a leading platform for PC games and digital entertainment. Steam users can now detect and install the latest ATI Catalyst driver for their ATI Radeon™ graphics card directly from within Steam. Valve’s most recent Steam Hardware Survey shows that fully 87 percent of DirectX® 11 gamers are enjoying ATI Radeon or ATI Mobility Radeon™ hardware.

I would not trust steam to update system drivers. steam is just barely good enough to update games. BARELY

Not to be outdone by rival ATi, nVidia's going to offer its own drivers on EA Download Manager.
    Sigs are obnoxious.

Using it since probably 2003 or 2004. And having problems with it. And reading forum posts about it... and helping people with it... and hearing friends complain about it. The problems are endless. The support threads on the forums NEVER END! blob file, anyone?

a friend used this driver feature today and it totally failed. crashed, wouldn't work. not a fluke.

the historical problems with steam are uncountable. but they have not been bad enough to stop us from using it. but consider, there is no alternative. that may be part of the reason we don't use anything else.

the only problem i ever had with steam is that it dosnt let you use multiple locations for games very well, hopefully they add that soon

but never had an actual issue, ever. and anyone i know using never has either.
