    was it worth it... 4890/470..?

    so i was putting a new rig together
    1090t
    IV Formula 890fx
    8g (4x2g) dominator 1866
    2x 6gs 1t WD Blacks

    and i had a an xfx 4890 that i was going to use with the system
    i had a random impulse buy and grabbed a zotac 470 amp....
    my question was ..... was it worth the buy

    yes definitely the 470 is much better than the 4890, the 4890 is on par with a gtx 275 and doesn't have dx11 or physX so i think it was a good buy as the card would have been the bottleneck in games

    With a good cooler, yes. OCd the 470 is a nice performer, but thats just me. Nothing is a good performer until its OCd

    From a technological standpoint 4890 is an architecture from two years old, basically it's HD4870 on steroids
    so it seems like a viable upgrade. Though, we can't state that for sure since you haven't mentioned what are
    you looking at while gaming?

    4890 was about a 12% increase over a 4870 the gt470 is a much better choice...
