Please to tell me what memory it support ? will be working a NON ECC memory modules such as Kingstone HyperX KHX6400D2K/4G
or any non reg. or ecc.
Unfortunately, that memory will not work. This board requires registered memory. I don't know about registered non-ecc memory though.
Try THIS ebay search for compatible memory. I have modified the search slightly from the one on post #1 since it seems ebay no longer accepts the asterisk in searches.
From other's experience, window's doesn't like this board's ACPI. I'm currently running mine diskless from a DRBL server running ubuntu 12.04 64-bit linux.
Speaking of installing windows.... I am not able to get into my board's bios, it simply hangs on "entering setup". I had wanted to be able to boot from a hard drive, but i guess that's not going to happen.
Anyone else confirm this problem with the 8350HE or perhaps the entire B3 stepping?

Windows will not install, board's BIOS ACPI is incomplete and Windows packs a sad. I assume the board was designed as an OEM solution for quad socket servers - whoever was the original end user (we figure Google) only wanted to run Linux on them, so Arima cheaped out and only coded enough ACPI code to get Linux to run.
Only ECC REG DDR2 will work.

If you want to run Windows on one of these, you must do it via running a virtual machine. You lose GPU acceleration (unfortunately the nVidia chipset on the board isn't supported for the GPU passthrough code), but you'll still get a large proportion of the CPU performance.

back in time i wan complaining about only one out of the 4 cpus being available in my second board while all 8347HE being GOOD.I remembered reading that one folk here took out all the cpus , cleaned the cpus , with white pencil erasor i add , and blow air onto all sockets and voila.....All 4 cpus are up and running.Soon after i will bw reporting compatibility with HP green edition mobo with the shangai 8380 cpu using ddr 2 800mhz mem .Previously i was using 667mhz mem which lead in dead end.

Hi, I just tried activating a blue board. While I have four of the quad opterons OS2347WAL4BGC, only one is installed in cpu0. 2x2gb ecc pc2-6400 is in the two blue slots of cpu0 dimm2 & dimm3. Also a ATI Radeon HD 4850 x2 DVI connectors. The power supply is an Ultra 700w ATX with two rails: one 24 pin, the othe 8 pin. The 24 pin can have 4 pins detached to make it a 20 pin. There is also a 6 pin pci-e connector for the ATI card. One thing is the PS has all black wires. I cannot figure where to jump the black and green wires to activate the PS.
With the 24(minus 4) pin in the 16 pin slot and the 8 pin and reversed 6 pin in the 18 pin, on start, I see the fans just kick.
Unsure what to do. Your expertise is appreciated.
You're gunna have issues once you go multi-CPU, 2000 series only support running in pairs, not sets of 4
You need ECC REG not ECC2x2gb ecc pc2-6400 is in the two blue slots of cpu0 dimm2 & dimm3.

Unfortunately, the PSU doesn't mention voltages, nor are the lines color coded. Pins 1-18 fit fine, leaving two in the wind and the remaining four detached. The other 8 pin, likewise, fit into the first 8 of the 16 plug. Then there is the reversed 6 pin. BTW, the 6 pin had two black wires going to one crimp and the opposite crimp was missing. This repeated on a second 6 pin that came with the PSU. I have no idea where the paper clip would go.
The board was populated with 2347s when I bought it and two 512mb ddr2-pc6400 sticks. I read your manual and saw the need for the ECC Registered. So bought two of those, saw the ECC mark and thought that meant ECC Registered. Now I know I'm wrong and they are not Registered. And that I should have 4 sticks, not just two. Though, early in the thread, it's mentioned two sticks in the blue slots would work.
My main concern is that the board is blown? This is $400 down this road. I'm reading horror stories on the thread of even getting this started reliably and now I don't have the correct CPUs or PSU or ram. Heck I modded a four pin fan to fit on the three pin plug.... I guess the question is how to test for it being a blown board? I can use a voltmeter to test the PSU output. But I am hard pressed to spend anymore on what seems to be a losing proposition. I honestly thought I was following your manual correctly.

Ok, attempt three to post via iPad. Researched my Ultra 700w PSU. Found an image of the pinouts of the all black mobo 24/20 cable. The all black EPS 8 pin coming from the PSU hole, is unknown. Question: the pinouts indicate a variety of voltages, +/- 12/5v and +3.3v. The +12v is 40 amps for 480watts total and is on two pins, 10 and 11. Do the adapters to 8pin EPS use these two pins? Or are they Molex to EPS?
Regarding the notion of a burnt out mobo: since all pins are 12v or less and I hadn't grounded the PSON pin to activate the PSU (which does work with PSON grounded BTW), is it possible the board still lives?
Also, from what I've read the first digit of the CPU model number, 2347, indicates the max number of mobo CPUs allowed on the board with it. I take it that four 2347s are not controlled by the mobo to work in pairs, as opposed to quads? So the max CPUs I can load of this type on the mobo is two? So, buying 4X 8347 series is necessary?
And, of course, proper ECC REG ram. My intent was to use the 16 CPU rig for Lightwave 3D rendering. Just play really, but it would be far faster than my XP 3.4GHz P4, 2GB ram system.
If I can't get this to work with a minimum of expenditure, it'll be easier to save my pennies on my limited disability income to get something else. And sell these parts. Recommendations?

Well. Just got my head handed to me on a platter regarding where to live. My family has asked me to I've out so my niece can live here while in college. Need to sell the Arima blue and 4x2347quads, 5gbs ram and 700w PSU. Anyone want it?
The standard 24/20 pin plug from a PSU will NOT run this board, chances are it will damage it, hence why we use the EPS4/8 pins and PCIe 6 pins only. Thought that was pretty clear :/
Yup, you can only run 2x 2000 series in a quad board
ECC does not mean ECC Registered, they're two different types of RAM.
I guess that means a special 12v only PSU? Or Molex to EPS adapters that carry only the 12v line? Also, not sure how 5 and 3.3v would damage 12v circuits. I can see the board drawing more than the PSU circuits can provide and cause damage to the PSU, assuming its breakers don't kick. Guess will have to get 2 sticks of ECC-REG that actually say that on lable. Ones I bought were claimed as registered. But not on lable. I'll see about getting Molex to EPS adapters and see if the board will kick with cpu0 and ram in slots cpu0-1 and -2. Gonna be a couple months for the money though.
What I'd be concerned about is reverse voltages and whatnot by running the atx. Good chance the board has protections so you may be ok Where are you located btw?
Hello again. Interested in what desctop case it can be insert. It seems to be somewhere in the internet pictures hat this board is in the case of Coollermaster (it seems) ?

It doesn't fit normally, I had to
1) remove drive bays
2) remove back panel and mobo tray
3) make my own back panel and mobo tray
so it's not an easy fit, but it can be done with some metalwork know-how
