My retention brackets arrived today meaning I now have everything for my board, awesome.

So after modding the brackets and hacksawing some AMD heatsinks, I put it all together and the board shows its love by not giving me any video output

I have tried absoultely everything I can think of - tried each CPU individually, tried every combination of RAM, etc.

So in the space of 1 day its gone from bad to worse.

I can only see 2 options now, either buy an EEPROM programmer and get one of you guys with a working board to dump and send me your BIOS, or I pay a massive amount of postage and get it sent back to the states, wait weeks and get hit with another customs charge

Ouch, now that's just harsh. I'm still waiting on my x550, though you're not filling me with much hope with mine

Maybe it was the brackets that did mine and yours in
Or maybe he just shipped us the duff ones which shoota returned.

    I've now had enough

I decided to try my X550 which was working yesterday in my spare machine and its cooked (guessing thats the reason why I wasn't getting video out)

I'm blaming the motherboard as thats now decided not to power on at all now, its probably taken out the RAM and CPU's as well, who knows

Pissed off does not begin to explain how I feel.

man guys i really feel for you. i had those same issues with five of the twenty boards i first got from him. I was firm, but not rude, and told him i shouldn't have to pay return shipping on boards that are listed as tested and working. He agreed and sent me a shipping label so it might be worth a shot.

Hmm, have a way to test your powersupply Anarki?

My board is back up after the video card died last week. I need a way to monitor it from work, hmm.

Power supply is a Cooler Master GX 750W, it is brand new (5 days old) and works fine with other machines, so I know that's not the problem.

I emailed Raki Computers yesterday but haven't had a response as of yet

The thing is I wouldn't be too bothered if I had a lot of disposable income a month but I don't. I, like many of you guys, have a house to pay for and bills, also at the moment I'm trying to better my career by taking exams, again costing me money.

I'm at the point where I'm thinking hmmm this setup so far has cost me the best part of 500 quid and it doesn't work. I could of gotten myself a half decent i7 860 gaming rig for that and had none of the hassle.

Used stuff always a gamble unfortunately, could had just enough juice left in it to survive the testing. Hope it ends up working out for ya.

Succesfully installed ubuntu 10.04 using a usb bootable disk to a sata drive port 20.
    I have used successfully an pci-e ATI x700 and an pci-e Ati x1650 along with a pci ati radeon 7500 and a 9800gt pci-e.
    BUT,
i found oute that the micron 1gb 667 ecc reg modules i have does not allow the board to post.I am successfully using samsung modules.i have also use 400mhz pc3200r ddr2 samsung rams.
I will test fuctionality of the rams to another board and post back the results.

Maybe the board/CPU mem controllers don't like faster ram? I'm running PC2-3200 DDR2 ECC as well.

Maybe RAM is the issue. You're running PC2-4200 not PC2-3200 - I wonder if these require PC2-3200 only?

OK then never mind. Just a thought. I know that the Sossaman rigs can be picky about memory and speed and stuff, so I figured it was worth checking.

Good to know Shoota and thanks for the concern Sparky

Message sent. All I can do now is hope he's kind and gets me a replacement. I don't exactly have the cash for something like this as an alternative

    Hm, I've got a response but not sure what to make of it;

"I sold many of these boards. I've had a few problems but for the most part 95% has been excellent boards.

I'm willing to send you another one without having you ship the first one back. In return you pay for shipping. What do you think?

    Thanks"

    Edit: I'll sleep on it

Ben, don't do anything! I have PM'ed you, I have a similar response from him but there is a key difference in the responses we have had.

I'm not willing to discuss this further on a public board for our own backs so please get in touch dude

Anyone cleared the CMOS on this board before? I played around some acpi/ram (speed) settings and now and the board doesn't POST. Removing the battery doesn't seem to work. Well... something to keep in mind before playing with around in the bios. o_o
