Probably yes, but do you want to listen to 4 of this 70mm fans screaming at full speed?
BTW get yourself 50 or 60mm fan for cooling chipset.

One thing to remember on the coolers is the distance between the CPUs. I went with standing coolers.

    These are mine:

@retro77: do I see it correctly? You running your system with only 2 sticks memory per cpu (except cpu1)??? Mine do not boot with anything other than 0 or 4. Can you check your BIOS revision???

    Never mind: I'm blind.

what? almost any fan used will be too loud unless throttled down.

yes those heatsinks should work fine if your have the brackets for 939, and 80mm super low speed fan works fine for chipset

Sorry, the pic is kinda blurry. I couldn't get it to boot with anymore RAM than this

BTW: its working on its final 16 WU's. I'm shutting her down for the summer.

edit: surprised no one saw those custom heat sinks on there

IIRC you gotta fill all of _0, then _1, then _2, then _3

    maybe a partially dud board?

all of _0 and _1 are full.....

it wont boot with any in _2 or _3

will i gain any advantage if i swap the ram around and spread the 8 sticks and put 2 in each rather than fill _0 and _1?

also while folding its only using a total of around 3.3gb of ram so any more isnt worth it?

but i thought folding used lots for ram?

Make sure the OS is seeing all the installed RAM. If there's some kind of hardware or configuration problem it might not be recognizing some even though it's installed.

No, you can't spread 8 sticks. This board take only 0 or 4 sticks per CPU. Start testing. Remove 8 good sticks and replace them with 8 "bad" ones, if OK, swap CPU's (0&1) with (2&3).

Is your CPU's mark as "OS8354WAL4BGH"? If so, you have B3 rev and you can't get in to BIOS 1.0.0 or lower. Can you take picture of your memory?

yes i did read a previous post regarding the bios issue with the b3 stepping...

ive been swapping the ram about and it will only boot with a matching 4 sticks per cpu... ATM i only have 2 x4 matching sticks of ram

even tho there 2 different makes of ram they still work fine with 4 matching for each cpu

so ive sent the seller a question asking why he has sent me mixed ram? ie. not 4 lots of 4 matching

also is it worth the extra ram when the system is only using 3.3gb out of 8gb?

Yes, with only 2 CPU's with memory you'll lose around ~20k PPD, and you'll be on edge with -bigbeta bonus point deadline. For F@H you need max out memory bandwidth.

    yes your right...

my estimated PPD is around 55000ppd on wu 6903

4 8354 should get around 80000ppd so a 20k ppd loss looks correct!!

and the WU is due to finish only 12 hours before the deadline

im currently sourcing more ram on ebay
