What a stupid place to put the only PCI slot. Cant believe that even after all this time the only board with decent PCI placement is the EVGA FTW3.

I don't see anything to make this stand out. P55 board was the same - expensive and no better.

thing's ass-ugly, but it's set at a decent price point of $200 on newegg. who's gonna be daring enough to get one for testing?... hahaha

The P55 version has been out for a bit longer and is doing well.

Guru3d has a review up. So would you guys pay another $30 over the gigabyte x58a-ud3r? I picked one up from fry's over the weekend, but haven't installed it yet. Haven't used a gigabyte in awhile...it sure is ugly.

Did you have to bump your qpi up for 4.2? is that with HT? I think I can get 4.2ghz no HT stable but I'm just leaving it 4ghz 1.2v because its a workstation I'm building for a friend. It's a I7 950.

I have a feeling this cpu has more to give also but the xigmatek dark knight cooler I got was for just 4ghz in mind. Temps are a big factor on pushing this cpu.

Funny you bring that up. When I first saw it I said it was ugly, but its different and I'm starting to really like it.

    Doing a 4.4Ghz run. 4.4Ghz 192x23 1.35v Core 1.32V QPI

Running LinX right now. Passed 2/20 so far but I'm not liking the temps to much.

Yeah, but I'm ridiculous. The only reason I passed it up was because Fry's only 2000Ghz ram were the tall blue shark fin Kingston's and they matched the UD3R better. If they'd had some black 2000, I would have gone w/ the Sabertooth.

really appreciate all the info loco. How well does the board do with s3? I've been having some trouble with random wakes on the ud3r. Also, how well does any of the epu or Oc software from Asus work?

I didnt have any problem so far with S3.
Didnt use the epu settings yet.
The OC software I'm using right now is the Intel Extreme Tuning Utlity that came with the cd. It's kinda nice, but you have to restart to apply the settings.

I still got around to testing all the tools and software so it may take sometime.

    EDIT:
Fan Xpert only does CPU and Chassis fans.
PC Probe II works fine just like every other asus board.
