TessMark 0.2.2: New OpenGL 4 Tessellation Benchmark

    http://www.geeks3d.com/20100819/gpu-...ion-benchmark/

    OpenGL and works in XP.

Like Unigine Heaven, TessMark allows to select the level tessellation. The small difference is that TessMark proposes four differents levels (see the screenshots at the end of the post):

    moderate
    normal
    extreme
    insane

Moderate and normal levels are levels we’ll find in real world applications like games. Extreme and insane levels are reserved for GPUs with much tessellation processing power and for the required touch of madness that a graphics benchmark must have
TessMark is an OpenGL 4 benchmark. That means you can play with GPU tessellation under Windows XP, Vista and Seven. Of course, you need a GeForce GTX 400 series or a Radeon HD 5000 Series. No GPU tessellation with previous generation of graphics cards!

So OpenGL 4 (And I suppose 3 as well) work in XP while retaining the features that DX10 and DX11 can only do in Vista/7?

Yet another reason to ditch Direct3D! (And Xaudio/DirectSound while we are at it). More potential buyers for your games!

I kinda miss those days when especially OpenGL was a very viable renderer choice, especially if you had a nvidia GPU. Software, OpenGL, Direct3D, 3DFX etc, these days if you'd even see an option to choose what renderer to use, you'd be like WTF is this?

*** WARNING ***: there is a BUG in Catalyst 10.7 (or the tessmark program itself) that prevents to use OpenGL 4 GPU tessellation on all Radeon HD 5800. Other Radeon like HD 5700 are not affected by this bug. Tessmark

Anyway, iam running i7 @ 4.1hz + cata 10.5 on a 5870 @ 975/1200 and i get much worse scores then the Radeon HD 5770 @ this Comparative Table page
This benchmark look fishy to me, the same way as stonegiant do.

Nice GTX 460 you got there, the increase is quite dramatic if you ask me. 32~34% performance boost to avg & min fps!
