Dawn of War II: Retribution announced.

    http://community.dawnofwar2.com/blog...ii-retribution

Great news for RTS lovers. The Chaos Rising campaign left many questions open. I liked a lot the campaign and this time it's going to be even better since you may pick any race to play it. YEAH!!

Besides they are going to intriduce a new race. It sounds promising.
Does anybody here play DoW II or Chaos Rising?

DoW >>>> DoW II. At least up until the second expansion, after that balance went to hell.

And that's about as pertinent a contribution as I can make

Your pertinent contribution is welcome then Balance has always been an issue.

Now, DoW II has suffered a balance process just like any other game and I'd say that is pretty balanced now. Of course there are some issues but then there are five races wih three styles each and perfect, absolute balance is not 100% possible.

But it's a fun game and I like a lot the tactical focus it brought.

When Dark Crusade was released there was a big problem with necrons because necrons>skill. That's dangerous for a game. But it was eventually solved and the game was fun to play.

Relic has my support because they sell a nice, high quality product designed for PC players at a reasonable price.

I'm 99% sure they will not remove GFWL. Perhaps they will when/if DoWIII is released.
I'd love to have dedicated servers and all that but I read once that THQs finances wouldn't allow it. Essentially, using GFWL is the cheapest way to have multiplayer.

As I said, I read this on other forum so it might be true or absolut bs.
But anyway, whether it uses GFWL or not, unless Relic screws it up big time I'm certainly going to buy this game.
And Relic doesn't normally mess things like DICE does

DOW worked fine, sure u had to open ports but it worked, i have never had a game that used GFWL multiplayer that worked properly and most of the ones for single player like fallout 3 i could not get the online profile to work

I agree with you, there were some problems with NAT etc but the old server system worked ok (Gamespy sucks a lot but oh well)
I hope they will recover that for DoW III.

    Good news!
Dawn of War II: Retribution on Steamworks
    http://community.dawnofwar2.com/blog...ion-steamworks

The official announcement. That's right, no Games For Windows Live for Retribution:

We are excited to announce that Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War II ® - Retribution™ will use Valve’s Steamworks networking and matchmaking to provide co-operative and competitive online play. This new back end will allow players to invite friends into matches from their Steam friends lists, and take advantage of the full set of Steam community features including groups, achievements, and Steam overlay chat channels. We are also going to include an all new matchmaking and ranking set up, built specifically for Dawn of War II – Retribution. more...
Mwa ha, I don't know Steamworks but it can't be worst than Windows Live!. I'm very excited about this, even more than for Retribution itself. By the way, the whole article has some new info about Retribution.

Here's an interview with Retribution's producer Jeff Lydell.
    http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/09/15/re...ive-for-steam/

PC Gamer: What benefits does working with Steam bring?
Jeff Lydell: There are several, and I’m most excited that we are going to be able to take full advantage of Steam’s features like free weekend trials and cloud saving.
    Great!

Well, that -][- like I in Retribution seems to say that the game will feature the Inquisition.
    I hope it doesn't
    I'd prefer IG or Necrons.

Anyway I hope they nerf Chaos a bit. It's a bit imba IMHO.
