Jon Magoon,Loonym, NOT to be forgotten.

We all get caught up in our own lives and thats to be expected but today I was looking at the team stats and saw Jon's account slowly slipping down the ranks.
All I can say to you is that it made me mad and brought a few tears at the same time.
I emailed Bill Boverman from WCG( IBM contact) and asked him if he could get me Jon's login and password.
He may be gone in body but he will continue with us in spirit.
When I get the info I'm going to leave Sammy on my account and put the others on his account to get him back where he belongs.
Anyone that cares to join me in this is more than welcome.
    Thanks for reading.

He was before my time. Can you fill the new guys in? Sounds like a great idea, I hope you get the login/password.

Jon came to us back around the beginning of 2008 IIRC..
Was dealing with Bladder cancer and the outlook wasn't good.
He loved his OC'ing and the DC work.
    Just a good guy.

Wow, I remember him going out of his way, helping me work out driver troubles back in around October of last year. I was deeply saddened at his passing.

This is a great gesture Dave, he needs to be back where he belongs.

I think about him a lot when I visit the forums. I hope his family is doing well. Dave if you get that info shoot me a PM please. I'll put aside my push to regain the top 100 for a while. If it's for Jon then it's no problem of course.

I said a silent hello/goodbye to loonym as my total WCG points tally passed him ( 43,304,970 WCG points ) several weeks ago, and I thought it would be good if some crunching could continue in his account. Good move, MM.
Looks like he might pass me back!

And perhaps send his family an XmaS card and update from all of us near the end of the year.

Dave, could you do another email like you did for the WCG Supercomputer Week and we see how much processing power we can muster for one account?

I don't know when I'll get it up and running. But I'll throw my quad socket on his account for a little bit when it is going.

Pass the info to me as well when you get it, Dave. I was thinking of Jon yesterday (and left a rather futile message on his wall).

Dave, do you think it might help if we send more than one email. I am willing to send one.
I am about 25 days from passing Jon. It makes me sad to do so. If there is nothing we can do then so be it. On the day that I do pass him I will pause everything for awhile.
As I said earlier he was a pleasure to talk wit, bot in PM and on IRC. He is missed in more ways than one.

Thanks Dave for bringing this up. I've been sadly watching his name drop on the stats page since he passed.

I thought there was some talk of keeping his account active....I don't know....maybe it was just offers to put rigs on it or something, without the follow through or organization. Anyway, unfortunately, I never had the balls to PM John. As a result, I never spoke to him. I just didn't feel right troubling him with my crap and asking him where he found his perseverance and positive outlook. I admired him, from a distance, for having these qualities despite his situation.

I'm willing to put a rig on his account too, if there's a "safe" way to do this.

Isn't there a way to change some line in some BOINC file to the desired account's serial number/unique id? Or something like that?

I dont understand WCG, im a F@H guy myself, but why doesnt WCG just have it like F@H where you enter the account name you are folding for and the team number and thats it?

Why is there a password to fold on one account?
