Think I need a new Router

Got a Links BEFSR 81 v.2 only using the one port to a Trendnet TEG-S80g gigabit switch which has thre pcs and 3 nas devices connected. During heavy downloading (getting 900-1.05KB) I'll lose connection hand have to reset connectin in windows 7 pro 64-bit. Seems to happen if randomly if just downloading and almost instantly if I try to browse. Am I overloading the router with these speeds. Any recomendations for new router that can handle browsing and downloads simultaneosly? ATM only using wired conections but may in future go wireless so eithe will work. Just need something that can handle what I'm presently doing

Hey, Just to clarify, you are downloading from one of your PC's that has W7 64bit. From this PC you try and browse the net and your PC loses connectivity or does your Router drop it's WAN Connection?

Corrrect. Router when checked shows red on the connection line from modem. Already tried replacing the nic, no improvement on the problem. Want to try a new router now just trying to get a suggestion as to which may be best. Really looking hard at the the new Asus Rt-N16

It does sound like the router is dropping, I think they are quite buggy. As to which one may be the best, I probably couldn't answer that one. I still use a WRT54GL with Tomato Speedmod 1.27. Check out http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/. There is also plenty of topics regarding routers, here is one for example with a few helpful posts: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ghlight=router.

    Hope you find one!

Ah, I actually bought an ASUS RT-N16 to replace my dead Linksys WRT54GS, and I love this router. Installing a larger DD-WRT build added so many features, plus the router is fast, has gigabit ethernet, and wireless-N.
