    Talking Project : L3p D3sk

    Hi there

I'm quite new to this forum, but since they liked my build at some Dutch hardware sites, i wanted to post it here too.

My other build came to an end and didn't know what to improve, but my old desk almost fell apart.

Really want to thank Pascal for his pc-in-a-desk idea. After seeing it I couldn't even sleep that night

I started sketching it with Google Sketchup

It's a 1080 radiator under my floor from my house, right in the corner where my pc is.
My water temperature in wintertime is around 18 degrees, in the summer it's around 23 degrees.

    Talking

Hi L3p, If been following your threat on tweakers as well. But since ur here now as well im gonna watch your build here! since i read here everyday.

I was planning to build a "computer desk" for a couple of months as well.
Your project looks great, not even talking about the expenses your making

I'm not sure yet how im gonna build my new desk, but i want to make something with integrated watercooling. Perhaps a RVS framework, with MDF and PlexiGlas. Since i can't weld aluminum myself it will be a very expensive project to do it that way.

Hope you gonna post some more details and some tips and tricks of things to watch in such build. Keep it up, hope u had a nice holiday!

So here's the progress of 3 days

    My best friend "babs" welding

    Holes for the Bitspower fanguards
Both sides will have 3x 120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoons 1450 rpm op 5V
Underground will be 9x 120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoons 1450 rpm op 12V @ the 1080 radiator

    Thats me !

    "Rough" work is done

    A Bitspower Black Sparkle Ashtray

So brought the d3sk back home

That is just awesome...would it have made more sense to make the tale smaller, as it seems a bit empty overall.

This is the best build I have ever seen of a totally custom job. Most custom jobs are silly but this is an immensely practical idea. The only part I found odd was where you put the radiator. I have always considered utilizing a mini-fridge as a way to get un-natural temperatures. I still think I might give that a try.

just checking, but that desk is secured into 2.4s, right? I'd hate to see her pull herself outta the wall and take a few square meters of drywall with her.

And a suggestion, but if you tint the glass/plastic top, you could make it so you only see the insides when the internal lighting is on(like magic ^_^). Might be an interesting addition.

Awesome project--I have seen many wall mounted desk cases actually, but yours blows them all away. Very professionally done, and also very artistic.

This is a fantastic idea. If it were my rig I would put window tint (probably silver) on the inside of the acrylic, so when the system was turned on you could see the hint of a computer via the lights. If you used elwire to trace some of the important outlines and some LED strips around the perimetere of the interior edge you could get a killer effect.

But this is your mod, and you have already shown that your creativity will make it look awesome in the end anyways. =)

The desk holder is secured with 11x 8x70mm bolts so the desk will never come down
About that glass ... indeed an interesting addition .

But i cant start playing with light before it has been powdercoated in black, the alu reflexes all the light now

This gives me the Idea of makina a smaller table with thick plexi/ALU cornerings

Something like 90cm wide, 40cm depth and 18cm height....
Just for the 24" monitor and I'm done.

Would be much lighter, easy to move, and with removable feet, could even take it to the LAN's.... ( dreammode ON)
