    MSI R5870 Lightning

    Let’s have a initial look at the MSI R5870 Lightning, equipped with the fresh Twin Frozr II cooler with a total of 5 heatpipes.

    Let's start out with a look at the new Twin Frozr II;









    The Twin Frozr II is quite impressive, both temp and noise wise, especially strong for 24/7 usage.



    MSI R5870 Lightning retail package with following protection;

    1. Plastic top protection cover.
    2. Custom cut foam to surround and support the card.
    3. Anti-Static bag for ESD protection.
    4. Light blue hoods attached to PCI-E / CF connectors and DVI-I x2 for protection.

    Damn the name is gay but by god is that Twin Frozr cooler sexy as hell and effective. I wish MSIs GTX460 Cyclone wasn't so expensive

    PCB is the same, the Twin Frozr II got upgraded with an extra heatpipe and 15 fins, allowing for a more silent operation and or more headroom for overclocking .

    how many slots does the cooler on this card take? because im thinking crossfiring two of these and i dont think they will fit close to each other.

    Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    Unless I'm missing something completely, I think he meant "dual slot" as in the card is dual slot, so it will work just fine. All other Twin Frozr (wtf @ the name, Engrish ftw) cards play happily in Crossfire. Most boards arent spaced that closely anyway anymore, unless you are going 3 or 4 cards.

    We havent pushed 5870 alot before, but this particular GPU, scales alot better with cold than the other 5870 We played with.

    It does 1100 MHz with default Vgpu , cooled with ln2

    yes you're missing something , you're missing the heat problems all over the internet with cf setups due to almost zero space between cards.
