Hmm I certainly hope that apart from competing against the high end coolers in performance, that price be equally competative too.

How quiet is the pump?
I assume those numbers were not achieved with passive cooling. How did you get those numbers, with one fan or two fans in push/pull configuration?
Corsair has made quite a name for themselves with the H50. I find it quite funny that my Best Buy can't keep them in stock (and we get quite a few in). Looking forward to this new one to replace my H50.

Test setup was the following:
Asus Rampage III Extreme
Core i7 920 @ 3.8 GHz (20 x 190 MHz, 1.34Vcore)
Corsair Obsidian 800D case
All inside a temperature controlled oven with an ambient temp of 25C.
At 100% load using Super Pi 64-bit to stress the CPU, the H50 reached an average of 85C after 4 hours of testing, and the H70 was 71.7C after 4 hours of testing. In comparison, the vast majority of high-end aircoolers were around the H50 levels, save for a few gigantic aircoolers which approached H70 performance.
Interesting!
I run all my crunching 920's at 3.8ghz as well but with only 1.18 vcore.....
Was this 1.34 load voltage verified with a DMM or are you going on bios settings?
If I can go up to 1.34v and stay in the low 70's then I can push them all up to 4.2+
Put me down for 5!
Pssssst..... anyone wanna buy some nearly new H50's?

Awesome! I'll likely be debating it then! Lol. Though, I should just look into a 240mm rad and build my own WC.
Edit: Reminds me, do you know if Best Buy will be carrying the H70 too? I know the store I work in has the H50. Just askin' cuz I'd love to use my discount, lol.

If it's over a hundred dollars, I will buy when the price settles down.
time to upgrade my H50 to the H70

Well, in a Corsair Obsidian, with air blowing in from the rear fan area, the H70 would probably beat everything on air, simply because any air cooler needs at least some fresh outside air to work well. why dont you test it on an open bench as that would probably give a better idea. Or in a case where there is some airflow.
The Obisidian is the best case for water, but not too good for air. There is barely any inflow fans to start with and whatever is there is too ar away from the cpu area to make a difference.
Also a test with 4 ghz would be great.
5C for 20$ ? That could be asked from almost any high end air user, considering how many of them are among the enthusiasts I would say in we would fork out 20$ for 5C.

i think its time to do a review of max clocks on different range of coolers where noise levels are kept at certain points (silent, moderate, loud)
for stock cooling you might get a few hundred mhz
good air cooling a hundred more
best air cooling a hundred more
low end water (like h70) you might get 50-100 more
and then full water cooling which can remove whatever wattage you want, but probably not that much better temps, which could offer nice suicide runs, but honestly 24/7, i bet a DYI water system is not going to offer much more than an H70 due to high voltages needed for those last little mhz, with a much higher risk of killing the cpu.
to me DYI water is good for suicide runs, or complete silence of massive heat loads for multiple components.
PS i am very happy with my new H50, my idle temps were 26c, load of 36c while my previous heatsink it was 32c idle and 55c load
(1055T at stock, and using oem heatsink undervolted fan, lol)
im gonna be patient on this one and wait for some reviews. it should be better than the h50 out of the box, but let's see some reviews, then spend the $$
