Is my drive running SATA 3?

    Hi all,

    I have a Western Digital SATA 6Gb/sec 1TB Caviar Black (WD1002FAEX).
It's plugged into one of the SATA III ports on my motherboard(SATA1), but I can't seem to find anywhere to check whether it's actually running SATA III of SATA II.

AMD overdrive says SATA II when I view the drive properties, but I think it may be incorrect.

Is there a program I can use to check which SATA it is running?

    Thanks for any help

Yeah I realised it won't be faster, I was just hoping to check that board will actually run SATA3, as I have had many strange problems with my previous 890FXA-GD70.
Maybe tonight I will unplug my other drive and check again.

    Thanks!

Make sure you have sata III enabled in bios, i know on my ud7 its disabled on default

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

I unplugged my SATA II drive and it still seems to report as SATA II in AMD overdrive.
I had a brief look around in the bios and did not see anything regarding SATA III, only found the option to enable or disable the SATA controller.
I have some time today, so I will fiddle a bit more.

I know, but it should still be detected as a SATA3 drive
