Question about Mountain MOds UFO

Ok, so I'm looking to purchase one of these used and found a case - however, the owner doesn't know what the spacings are.

My questions are:

Have the panel spacings ever been anything other than 25mm and 15mm on the mountain mods UFO?

Also is there a difference between (or is there) a mountain mods UFO and U2-UFO?

spacing was variable.

you either got the old TC style, or the HWlabs style.

Yes there is a difference, the U2-UFO is the original style with a standard mother board mount.
The UFO -Hori is a horizontal mount.

The UFO-CYO is a complete disassembly version.

The original UFO's u can not take apart at the CYO level.

no, depends on what you're talking about. i believe the front has always been 25 or 15, but the back (on the horizon at least) varied between 17 and 15. apparently you can 'sort of' convert any case into a 'hyper modular', u have to buy the front, back, base and struts (basically half the case), but you can reuse everything else.

The front is Thermochill spacing... old style.

You can tell because u cant fit those filters covers on the HWlab style.

The rear looks like its HWlab style.
Notice how you cant get the filter covers over the small gap.


Here is another example.. my front is the TC spacing.. which allows me to use those filters.


Lastly, your case looks like a horri... and not a standard U2.

This is incorrect. Only the UF2O CYO is hyper modular. The regular UF2O is welded at the corners and you cannot swap out the back and front panels or flip them.

If you are buying a UF2O case, used or not, unless you are just getting a great price, I would only get a CYO Hyper Modular one. The reason is, if you want to swap out the front or back to say accommodate the SR2, you can purchase a new back panel and swap it out. If it's the older style you would not be able to do this. Same goes if you want to change the rad/fan spacing or if you want to go horizontal versus vertical on the MB tray and vice versa.

Yeah, I am in the process of upgrading mine to either an ascension or an extended version. I need more room.

As for OP - you have 25mm spacing on front and 15mm spacing on back. (Naekuh is correct about the plastic filters and spacing).
You can rotate your back panel 90 degrees clockwise - remove the horizontal brace and run the board vertical orientation if you choose. You'd probably want to pick up a security flange which locks the tray in place if you decide to do that.

Man this thread really fuels the fire for me to go get a MM case.. Does anyone have any pics of one with a Phase Unit installed? Trying to decide if I should get a Vertical or Horizontal? Also is there a panel that would accommodate a quad radiator?

Sweet thanks... I looked around and went to their built in flash tool that lets you configure your own but I didn't see that earlier. Thanks again.. Off to go divert some funds into a secret account so the wife doesn't find out what I am up to

I actually had my phase unit installed into my UF2O case with a horizontal MB while back. I connected the fan and condenser to the one of the fan holes in the back. The only issue was that it took up all of the space from front to back so I couldn't fit a triple rad up front unless I took it vertical. But the case is big enough for a naked phase unit. By the way, once you go horizontal, you won't go back. It makes it easy to work on the computer swapping gear, which I do often, sort of like a tech station.

Yeah I am thinking of getting the extended version so I can get that extra room for the phase unit components and my quad rad. I am thinking the Horizontal setup would be the easiest to do. I just would need to fabricate something to enclose the phase unit and keep it separated from the rest of the components. This would be 2 fold as the compressor can get quite warm and it's ugly
