    Cool Nvidia Kepler 28nm???

Hey guys, thinking about upgrading my gfx to the 570 GTX, Gigabyte Windforce to be exact, then overclocking it to hopefully 900mhz giving me 580gtx performance at a better price!

My question is should i wait for Nvidia's next gen cards, and mainly, does anyone know when they are going to be released???

also, are there any offerings by AMD also on the horizon?

    Corsair 620Watt
    Samsung SH-W183 SATA drive
    AuzenTech X-Meridian

I have a Tuniq 120 Tower in my new pc. The size, in relation to others on the market, is directly proportional to the size of my penis. Therefore it is large.

You might wait a bit; I read an article in where nVidia might be reducing the 580s into the mid $300 range sometime before Christmas. Article said they where attempting to reduce inventory in advance of their next gen cards. We'll see ...

Wait. If nothing else for the rumored price drops but also because (IMO) any card ranging from the GTX 560 Ti to the GTX580 are kinda overpriced. Its why I haven't picked up a 560 Ti 448 yet, not to mention my "lowly" GTX460 at its current clocks beats a stock 560 Ti by a comfortable margin anyway, so I wait.

Recently, the only Nvidia cards that were really worth the price tag were the reduced 1 Gb GTX 560 tis at £149 each.

Other than that, the current full prices are far too much with the new cards coming out so soon. Upgrading to any of the GTX 500 / HD 6900 range cards right now is a very bad idea.

Loads of people have recently been upgrading to GTX 580s for BF3 (even 3 Gb ones in SLI), and are still currently buying that card for new builds ... yet for the lowest price of £360, its a card that is already beginning to struggle with the latest games and has a very short life left on it for high end gaming. People that have only recently bought it are going to be raging early next year when the new stuff is out - According to leaked specs and prices, the mid range 28 nm Kepler priced at $199 is higher specified than the GTX 580.

If you want to wait until Q2 2012 for GK104 or true GK112 Q1 2013 then wait otherwise not worth it..

A Kepler refresh would be a better choice imo..

Or even better wait for AMD 7970 in early January 2012.

nVidia's cards gonna be late-comers this time, which is awful as I need one bad ASAP. Don't wanna go the ATI way too, cause of announced prices for 7950/70. 7970 is aiming around 500 bucks price tag, and 7950 around 400 which is just rude, no matter how good their performance will be, prolly it's cause of nVidia coming late to the market. Current prices for nVidia's lineup are fine for some chips and for some not, IMO. 570 is pretty decent for what it gives, 560 Ti is overpriced a bit, and 580 too.

Anyway, here are some links from VR-zone:

    thanks for all your replies!

yea i dont think i can wait till Q2 next year

i could buy a 570, overclock it, then when the next gen's are out sell it... will probably lose 30% of its value in doing so but sometimes youve just got to take it on the chin lol

Nvidia and AMD-Ati as well have a very serious trouble. There is a big lack of games that push current graphic cards to be updated.Only two games this year(The Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3) are real graphic resources whores.Out there even Crysis 2 can be runned moothly by anmiddle range graphic card of last year(the GTX 460 as someone told here or a AMD HD 5850).
So no,there is no hurry at all in presenting new produts just for some benchers. In fact i Think is moore interesting fro them the laptop market than the gaming systems.Only AMD seems to be interested in it,launching new hrdware on late January. This is my view of atual things.
ps-Ket you are price-prestations figther with the Asrock guys(i still do have my Asrock in a second computer at home). In that computer i had a similar trouble like you about upgrading and i found a solution.I bought a used GTX 460,made the sli,and everything is running fine there.
