Recommend a pump with a 3 pin connector

Hi guys

I want to replace the pump in my machine (http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums...ic.php?t=56550). The case I'm using, uses a pump with a 3 pin connector. Can you guys recommend a good water pump that does have a 3 pin connector?

Both MCP355 and CPX-Pro (sold under many names, by a few companies) are the best pumps you can get, and they both come with 3 pin connectors.

didn't MCP355 (or Laing DDC 3.2(5)) have 4 pin connector for power and single wire 3pin for rpm tach wire? IIRC only it's variant by Koolance (PMP-400) had both of these wires united in 3pin connector. Not that hard to mod that though with any pump.

it is very easy to put a 3 pin connector on any 12V or 5V PC low amperage component.

Let me get this strait. My MCR355 has a 4 pin for power and a 3 pin to plug into the MB for rpm signal. You guys are saying that I'm able to mod the wiring so that it uses a 3 pin connector only? I guessing after modding the wiring you can no longer plug it into the MB, it would have to come directly off the PSU and you would loose the ability to read RPM?

My preference in PSU's (Antec NeoHE) allows me to make a lot of my own cables. What I do is convert the pump to a 3 pin connector then make a cable that has a 3 pin on the end of it. The RPM sense wire still goes to the MoBo or a fan controller, it just takes a slightly less direct route.

Ah, got it. So you'll end up with (2) 3 pins instead of a 3 pin and a 4 pin. On to the MB and the other to the PSU. Makes sense now, sure would be cleaner in my case. I'll keep that in mind when I get ready to sleeve.

If you use some advanced pump/fan controller for pumps (eg. aquaero/TMS-200/BigNG), then imho it makes sense for single 3 pin connector, so that both rpm signals go to controller and pump's voltage is regulated from it all by same connector/wires. As for which color wire is for what or which pins in connectors (4 pin or 3 pin) provides what voltage or are used for rpm tach, can be easily googled out.

If you're not a fan of modding, the CPX-Pro and DB-1 pumps are both good options. And I suspect even the little DB-1 will kick the butt of whatever Zalman offered in that case originally.

Thank you very much for all the information provided. I think, thought at the moment I'm not sure, that I'll go with the Koolance PMP-400 and its heat sink. I like the concept. I'll also probably buy some other things all from Koolance, like quick release couplings, barbs, etc.

Regarding the Zalman case is not that bad.
Right now my CPU stays idle at 42ºC and primes at 65ºC. Room temperature is about 30ºC right now, here in Madrid. The CPU is i7 920 at 2.8 GHZ.
Weird thing, is that 2 days ago I've changed my TIM for the CPU from AS5 to AC MX3. With AS5 my CPU used to prime95 at 60ºC, at 30ºC room temperature. Right now with MX3 it primes at 65ºC.. Better idle temps, but worse load temp. I've ordered some Gelid GC Extreme. I do hope it's better than MX3 at transferring heat.
I know the Zalman thing is not for hardcore over-clockers, but it serves me well in my needs of getting slightly lower temps that air cooling and also lower noise. The case when setted on automatic, is pretty quiet.
