Motherboards that support intel nehalem ES processors

    Hi all,

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of intel xeon nehalem engineering samples processors - L5520's.

Just wondering what brand dual socket 1366 motherboards would support these engineering samples?? after reading around, i found that the ASUS boards will support them, but also keen to know what other motherboard brands will work with engineering samples.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    many thanks

All boards that support L5520, will support L5520 ES chips.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. nowadays, ES chips aren't much better than retail. it's only back in the days where the ES pentium4 and some c2d were unlocked. now, they're just the same as retail, except sometimes abused and/or have small really tiny bugs.

Thanks for the input guys! greatly appreciated! SR-2 seems nice, but i'd need a pretty good reason to tell the missus why i'm spending £500 on a computer part LOL!

I was a bit concerned about ES processor compatability on certain motherboards because i was reading posts on another forum and one guy couldnt get a supermicro dual 1366 board to fire up with ES chips but when he swapped them out for retail ones, it was all good! maybe he was just unlucky!

If it had an OEM's BIOS it might not, but SuperMicro will gladly send you any BIOS you need to support ES chips.
