Nice to see Asus use HWBOT for all kinds of stuff, but refuse to get in touch to support the development

Regardless of that, looks like a nice challenge!

980x performs roughly like 1156 + 500MHz, so either is a good call.... if the chip is good

Open to USA and Canada residents, and they too need to pay for the travel and accomodation, people should boycott such tournaments I think, because of the 2nd reason.........Its almost completely free marketing is what Asus wants.......

    What

    Step1: Buy our hardware
Step2: Give us nice marketing screenshots from a community website we don't support
Step3: You win a free ticket to enter QuakeCon if you manage to pay everything yourself.

This feels like 2005. Surely we've moved on since then.

doesn't sound too sexy to me...ASUS should take some more money in their hands to make something like ROG Showdown last year. This comp is kinda useless when I read what u need to pay yourself...country limitation also sucks imho...

You guys ever think that this comp is geared more towards gamers/average joes instead of epeen waving ocer's?

The world is bigger than overclockers.

Your first clue should be QUAKECON ( a huge USA gaming lan party not ocing lan party ) and ROG Republic of Gamers
Some food for thought. Not ROO......

Fyi i suggested pi1m to asus versus wprime, lets let some guys on cheap cpu's have a chance shall we?

show me gamers/average joes that understand the rules right away and care about pi...
why it is in the xtreme competitions here and not e.g. in the gaming section? additionally if you are right we won't see any good 1m

I can show you lots of gamers that will understand quickly with the amount of prizes in dollar value especially since they would actually "use" the hardware, which i might add will more than compensate for travel expenses.

    hey guys,
just wanted to add, yes ASUS will not be paying for travel or accommodations. please note that we are aiming to put in about $13k in prizes.
there are 2 teams of 2 that may go to quakecon. 4 in total. each "TEAM" will get to take home the hardware they bench on currently we have:
    2x Rampage III Formula
    2x Crosshair IV Formula
    2x GTX460
    2x Intel 980x

This is for EACH TEAM so multiply that by 2
we are also working on getting more prizes in the pool once confirmed
    2x SSD
    2x Mem kits
    2x 1200watt PSU
1x grand prize that is still TBD but well worth over $1000

Each team is roughly getting $6k in hardware that they get to keep plus an all trip expenses paid to the 2011 OC SUMMIT where you can win even MORE prizes.

ALSO! we are allowing any ROG board to enter. any means ANY. intel or amd platforms. Only the posts on our forums qualify so even if there is a world record and its not posted in our forums with our rules, its not a qualified submission. i am trying to make this fair for anyone that owns an ROG product. new or old, if you've got the skills you can enter.

anyone with an ASUS board can enter as well but will only qualify to win an ROG board for upcoming competitions.

@massman: Sorry if i may have offended HWBOT in anyway but that was not our intention, we are doing this purely for the sport of overclocking. The purpose of submitting on hwbot is to bring more awareness to the HWBOT community from our end, get you guys more traffic, and do this purely for the sport of overclocking and supporting people who have purchased an ROG or ASUS product. If you want to talk about how ASUS can help develop HWBOT as a community, PM me and we will talk. But i don't think having a banner and sponsoring tournaments is developing anything. I would truly like to discuss and innovate the way Overclocking is viewed and executed.

ALSO, one thing i am sure of is there will be 0 ASUS employees entering in this contest. We will not sample any hardware or modded hardware to ANYONE. If i catch anyone doing so, i will personally handle it myself. Our forum moderators will not qualify for the contest but they may post a few examples to help some of the new members understand how it should be done. We are purely here to teach new comers into the sport of overclocking and hope that the experienced members can help guide them to the top.
