    Exclamation computer doesn't power up!

    I have a GA-G31M-ES2L.
Today morning I removed a cooler master heatsink which was broken for a Intel stock HSF which came with my e8400, the processor installed in the motherboard.
My problem is that after that when I tried to start the computer, the computer doesn't turn on, no beep, no fan , no lights nothing at all.
I removed all the components, reseated the motherboard, tried to start it with just memory, processor, hsf, it still won't turn on.
I started the power supply manually by shorting the pins, and the power supply works and can turn on a hard-drive even.
I have checked the wires, the main power cable and the 12V ATX cable are all in place.
What can I do now? Is it my motherboard? How can I be sure that my motherboard is faulty without getting a new one?
Are there more ways to love than to break a perfectly working computer?
    Don't think so.

Sounds really odd, You could be shorting your motherboard but i highly doubt it.. Sounds to me it could be a heatsink which isnt seated correct, check the heatsinks on your motherboard, I know when i installed my heatsinks on my UD7 it wouldnt boot till i reseated it the 2nd time, Also check to see if you have Bent pins on your CPU socket and on your Cpu...Also make sure your 8 pin is connected to the mobo hehe along with the 24 pin!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

make sure you didn't jostle any of the memory sticks either. Happened to me just the other day. I ended up burning out a memory slot.

with no lights you mean LED on the mobo?
worst thing is that your mobo is damaged or just check out if you plug in all the correct circuits..

I had the same problem when a lightning strike hit my house. Check to see if mobo light comes on. My light was on but would not start the computer. It was the mobo and sent it into Asus to fix cause it was still under warranty. I was lucky it was still under warranty.

    It is solved.
Turns out one of the USB headers is faulty as when I disconnected the wire from the plug, computer booted normally.
    Thanks for your help guys.
