    Whats the Best Coolant?

    Well finally took apart a window unit and gave it a run it says -15C on evap but I think the probe is off. Anyways wondering what is the best coolant to run in a system is?

    I use human blood. Needs to be changed a lot, but in my profession human blood is easy to come by. It keeps my temps really low.

    For "normal" chilling Anti-Freeze or winter windshield washer fluid. If you are going extreme then you are going to get into alcohol.

    I am mixing winter washer fluid and a bit of anti freeze

    If you can find some prestone de-icer at a local shop, its good stuff: http://www.prestone.com/products/win...sherFluids.php
    Anti-freeze can be nasty on the skin and respitory system. Bad for pets. Depending on your lowest achievable temps, you'll have to play with the mixture.

    Can't help but get it all over when you're tryin to find the exact mix that the least viscous and doesn't freeze at -42c.

    I've done many a home brew chiller and just sharing my pitfalls. Anti-freeze is very difficult to get off the fingertips even after alot of scrubbing. I recommend not spilling any and wearing latex gloves.
