i recently installed a d-link wirless adapter on my desktop but for some reason when I try to connect to my network, it will connect but I cant go online
why is that? im using the laptop in the same room and im getting connection to the internet.. can anyone help me out? thanks

Does the access point show the client as being associated? What router is it?

Do you also have a cable plugged in to something that doesn't go out to the internet? Like a stand alone router? It also sounds like you're using DHCP, check if it's actually getting an IP.
