    I smell a.... SCAM

Damn shame this as I could really use 4 of these

Edit: The auction on ebay has been pulled now but it advertised 5 brand new retail boxed 980X CPU's for $500 each with free international postage...

Needless to say the scammer er I mean seller had zero feedback and had been an ebay user for 2 days

    Bloody scammers

ps. I predict negative feedback and or "no longer a registered user" in the sellers near future

is there any way you can really get scammed if you payed with your credit card through paypal? if he really doesn't send anything, hopefully paypal can back you up, there's tons of horror stories where they won't. in that case, then just go through your credit card company, that'll force paypal to be on your side unless they want to eat the loss.

Tempting... but isn't that the key element in all scams?

I once bought 3 GTX 280's and the seller did not send them for 3 months after payment ... when I demanded a refund after one month ebay / fraudpal simply did not want to know....

It will not be me who bites this time...

It's either too good to be true and a scam, or he stole them and needs to get rid of them fast. Zero feedback also makes this super suspicious. If you pay with PayPal, though, you're not going to lose anything. PayPal will go after the seller.

This guy's giving Canadians a bad name :P

lol not really true. sometimes they do, but all the really require is a tracking number from the seller. if he sends a bag of rocks with tracking number, then that's all paypal really needs, and they'll favor the seller. google these kind of horror stories.

that's why it's more safe if you pay with your credit card linked through paypal. your credit card backing you up is much more safe than paypal.

I have a Paypal VIP account and they treated me like king the last time i had to file a claim, bought an item on ebay and after 20 days the seller still didn't ship, called in and they immediately gave me a refund, i think that's the great thing about Paypal and ebay, buyers come first.

lolz somebody buying 2, I'm jealous... probably going to put those bad boys in an SR2.

I sold a perfectly good (working with several screen shots) e8500 Wolfy to a jerk in Cali, he killed it, contacted PayPal, and they made me refund his money. I ended up with a dead chip and a kiss my arse.

That is the LAST chip I ever sell on fleabay.

These puppies would not work in an SR-2 as you need chips with a dual QPI (the 980x only has one). Having said that these puppies would not work in anything as they 99.9% certain to be a wall of silence and no new toys after payment

I've had good experiences. Once the seller didn't ship and PayPal almost instantly refunded my cash.

Another time the seller was selling defective RAM modules. I bought two from him and both were obviously bad, but his listing said "guaranteed not DOA." PayPal refunded my money in that case as well.

I doubt a bag of rocks will yield a different result. They're very thorough. If all members who bought from him file a claim and/or leave bad feedback, PayPal will side with you and refund your cash.

His ad had been pulled when I checked just now ...
Thanks for the screenie, Taskforce, otherwise I wouldn't know exactly what you guys were talking about. (I was checking out your experiences with fleabay / paypay.)
I wish US$500 for an i7-980X wasn't too good to be true though

Ouch! I really feel for the guys that got hit on this if it is a scam. It sure does Scream red flags. "Let me take your hard earned money"
I seen this and thought WTH selling 1k chips for half price, trying to come up with some explination I could only think the same as another
poster mentioned, that maby they were stolen and he's trying to just dump them.

I am just hoping and praying for the good people that might have bought these that this was just the same guy with different ebay accounts bidding
on them to make it look like other people are ok with this auction.

Great thing about being part of a community like this as everyone is watching out for others.

I knew this was a scam and I bought it.

I alerted Paypal to Monitor the funds so they can arrest the fraudulent seller.

    Paypal already reimbursed me.

I applaud you my friend for being so bold as to go charging in knowing it's a scam with the intent to shut these dork pullers down. I was just recently scamed for a bad copy of win 7, and it can hurt. More so with purchases on this level.

Anyways I'm glad there are people out there that will do what ever they can to help nail these jerks to the wall.

It was an actual bidding auction and I put in a top bid of $5,000.

However, it went that cheap because most people can smell a SCAM.
