Post any results you have of a Sempron 140 here. Or just discuss it. I believe I'm buying one.

i have one, i unlocked it to 2 cores with a cheap mobo. one problem was that it kept degrading. it OC'ed both cores to about 3.5ghz, did stability test and it passed, then a few days later, it degrades and computer crashes. lowered the clocks and kept the same vcore, stable for a few days, then degrades again. after a few times of degrading, i'm now running at 2.9ghz with both cores unlocked. i'm not sure if this is a characteristic of having cores unlocked, or if it's the mobos fault, or if it's just simply breaking in the CPU.

I've been always tempted to pick one of these up to play with. But I just picked up a 440 + mobo yesterday from Frys for $49.

just curious, does anyone else have degrading problems when unlocking the hidden cores? not just for this chip, but for any AMD chip

Yes. Built a AMD system for my parents and the chip degraded to the point I just threw the damn thing out and bought a Phenom 2 X4 for them.

I've got a 140 I'll throw on the CF4 and post up some results here on SS phase.

During the HWBot comp had it on a Gigabyte 790FX DDR2 board that chew* sent my way and had it running on both 1 and 2 cores at 13.5 x 300Mhz HTT or 4050Mhz at about 1.45v. The board wouldn't allow more than 300HTT though, as my 1090T also would not go 1Mhz over 300HTT either, and does on the CF4.

I'll be back in a couple days with some results.

    Best regards,

    Randi

This is a result from my 140 during the Raptor Bowl last winter. Asus CHIII MB using my chiller. This MB is good for more HTT but this 140 topped out there using the chiller. Add .1v to the CPU-z to get the bios vcore setting. All in all it's a nice chip.

Yes, but how much for a X2 255 or 240?

I need another CPU for a backup rig.

Remember that DDR2 Gigabyte board I had? The 5600+ gem I have that does 3.45Ghz stable doesn't belong in that ...board. It belongs in my nforce 5 board. (This winter on water. WRs? I can try. )That CPU cant do 3 Ghz in the Gigabyte board. Just need a new PSU and that Sempron unlocked @ ~3.6 and it would be my parents favorite PC. loaded with ubuntu for the freeness.

The Sempron 140 is $32 with free ship on the egg... I will sell this when I get a 1055t though.

looks like your chip it even better than mine. mine can only do 2.8ghz on stock (1.35v) voltages . i really think it's my mobo that sucks, or degraded the chip though

you're on which board mate? m4a88td-v evo is a decent board, but undervolt/overvolt (depend on how u set the vcore/vimc calibration) during load really irks me.

I have a Sempron 140 currently because I killed my x4 635 being an idiot (sloppy lapping = copper sediment on the pins). It does not unlock
at any speed, but I am currently running it at 3650 mhz. It has gone as high as 3900 mhz for SuperPi runs on my 790FX-GD70, but it has
degraded a wee bit. I have gotten in LinX stable (20 runs, 3 hours) at 3750 mhz. Got close at 3800.

Highest NB: around 3040 mhz, but it doesn't like these speeds at core speeds above 3600 or so. Realistically speaking it's happy at NB speeds
    between 2700-2900 mhz.

Highest RAM speed: DDR3-1640 or so (6-7-5-15 1T, some subtiming tweaks). This is with G.Skill DDR3-2200 (Pi Black). Anything above
DDR3-1621 is actually a bit sketchy. Looser timings do not result in higher speeds, indicating a clear IMC limitation.

Right now I'm RAM-limited HTT-wise since the ONLY RAM multiplier that will work with this chip/board combo past 200 HTT is 1:2.66. 1:2 crashes
at HTT speeds higher than 200, and 1:3.33 just crashes all the time. So sad.

The fun thing with this chip is that I've never had temps higher than 37C, even running LinX. Cooling it with an nh-d14 + Delta efc1212d +
NMB-MAT/Panaflo H1BX + Liquid Metal Ultra is overkill for a 45W chip, but hey, it works. I'd like to try a Sempron 145 or x2 220 (both C3
chips), but hey are OEM-only parts. HP/Compaq has some in their systems. I wonder if they could be convinced to sell one from a tray?

    first time my 140er is running 3800+ @ 1,525 V WaKü
second time i start with acc and 2 core @ 3,3 Ghz.
with two cores I will not be over 3.3 GHz, no matter what settings
board is the Gigabyte FXTA UD5, mem ist max 1640 cl. 6
bla bla bla, AMD ist the best.
