    Best X58 Overclocking Motherboard poll

I am looking to get the best bang for my buck on a X58 motherboard for overclocking,

My opinion is that i like the Asus Rampage 3 Extreme, seems from everything i am reading that it is the best at the moment,

The MSI Big Bang XPower, seems to need a good Bios.

Gigabyte UD9 is the best but paying more then double for a small % better is not the way to go, money is a factor.

Evga 4-WAY SLI Classified seems to be pretty solid, but the other boards have some newer tech

So that is some quick thoughts, help me flush out the best deal TODAY,

also if i missed a board let me know and the EVGA SR2 is in another class and not to be considered because of taking 2 chips.

I have used at least 20 different brands of x58 mobos, R3E is the best in terms of o/c. I am talking about air-cooling.

    i was fully stable @ 4.77
on rex3 i'm good for 4.6 so far only reason i got a rexIII was to go 4.8+
but you got a nice little subzero toy so you might be better off with rexIII
to be honest i wish i never sold my rexII i was really that good for water much more stable than my rexIII i got now

the way i see it the rexIII geared up for 980x hopefully they stop that bs n make it better for quads

i woulda bought a xpower but they need another 3 months to fix bios
    gigabut ud9 i rather get 2 4xsli boards
my mistake i shoulda just bought a 4xsli and kept my rexII also

i chose UD9 and some will say i am biased because i work for big-G but i don't care i think it kicks ass

you are looking for bang for buck and the best bang for buck board imo will be the new X58A-UD5(rev2.0) which is getting the new unlocked power PWM which is tuned for Gulftown, so maybe another board to consider

Love my R3E have been tinkering with it past couple of weeks and it has been a blast which for me is the reason why I buy an oc board. I have come across some quirks but overall has been great...maybe that will change when I stick an 930 in it (probably )

    R3E: decent board, good price.
Xpower: decent board, very good price. will probably be a bit more tricky to get the most out of it, but then again it's fun to be challenged sometimes
Classified: has proven to be a solid board, even though it's been around for MONTHS now. Maybe a bit too expensive.
UD9: decent board, but performance you get doesn't justify the price at all. It just doesn't clock a lot harder than the other boards.

UD5 is an option as well, I guess. Haven't seen that much from the board + GT yet, so not really sure. It would be a lot less expensive though.

    In my opinion: R3E > XPower ~ Classified > UD9.

With gulfie started with a e762 4-way, good board than bought an RIIIE and hammered all my previous 2d scores.
Lost alot of money selling the e762.

sorry but thats a bug when you up the pci-e Super high on the x58 sli you can get cpu-z to goof up the multi for i920 (x30....max is technically x22)

R3E is the best on this list for overclocking and bios from my experience. So far the best i7 bios to date of any board.

Xpower I am really liking other than the odd bios issues that can be ignored/worked around. If you dont mind tinkering some to test settings this is a looking to be a very good overclocker for 6.5+ Ghz fun.

I declined to take the UD9 on loan in the US giving others a chance to take the ride. I cannot base any opinion other than I agree that the price is way too high.

Classy has been an odd ride, efficiency seems to be lower than the other boards and always has been a huge overclocker but I think the others have copied to some degree the strengths of the classy.

UD 7 should be on the list for one of the best X58 boards to date along with R2E, I would take the R2E over UD7.

    r3 hands down!!!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?
