To get this thread back on topic, I am searching for 140mm fans for a GTX type rad. Not low fpi like sr-1 and the likes.

My thought for each fan mount was to cut up 2 140mm yates and put them together as shroud, then put a 140-120mm fan adapter on top and get a nice San Ace for decent pressure on there. Either this or maybe those San Aces in post #3 are available as non-L version which could make them a bit cheaper? Or does someone know a place where to get decent 24v 140mm Delta fans to undervolt them like fitseries suggested?

Or do a push-pull with lower rpm fans ? Maybe that would be cheaper (and easier to get) ?

i would think a strong fan + a 120 to 140 as shroud would offer a lot of static pressure and most of the benefit of a shroud. do you need to mount the rad in any precut holes? a pair of strong 120's in push pull w/ adapters is about as good as one can do w/o spending obscene amounts on more expensive fans. also-maybe the 140mm marker expands in the future and then you switch to native 140's then.

Dont know of where to buy good 140mm deltas (i'd buy em too!)

so basically you're saying that 3x140mm have more surface than 3x120mm, who would have though that!

It was in response to the post before mine.

You have to account the fact that for the same RPM, 140mm fan blades reach a higher velocity than their 120mm counterparts. I'd be curious to see comparative PQ curves of same series 120 vs 140mm fans...
