    Futuremark's Lords of Overclocking 2010

    Hey Overclockers,

Just posting to let you know that we're currently running Lords of Overclocking for 2010 at Futuremark: http://www.futuremark.com/community/...rclocking2010/

The contest is open to all 3DMark06 users (free edition is OK) with MSI motherboards.

LOC is again a part of MSI's Master Overclocking Arena qualifiers and this year MSI is flying 2 highest scores from each region (the Americas, Europe&Africa, Asia Pacific) to Taipei for the MOA 2010 Grand Final.

In addition we have weekly hardware prizes for best scores in each region and we're giving away some hardware each week among all registered ORB users who submit 3DMark06 scores with MSI motherboards during the contest.

Contest runs until July 18th with weekly prizes rotating each Monday 11am GMT.

Looking good. Seems MSI has plenty of backup plans in store for those who can't qualify to the MOA finals via the regional finals.

There is a rule stating: "Contest entries must use commercially available components. Engineering sample hardware is not allowed."

Just clarifying, does this mean no ES 980x processors? Or means no unreleased hardware currently in ES form?

    Cheers

Sounds pretty straight forward to me. If your hardware is an engineering sample it isn't permitted.

    Yeah.

MSI specified that they wanted the rules to be "no engineering samples", so Gulftowns of the "Genuine Intel"-variety are no-go.

Ok, what about "missing cpu" I think this is 980x early es. And sometimes info said six core cpu ... so We can easy see when people using es cpu for test.

Life sometimes gets in the way of what we want to do.

I think this rule is useless, because it has been demonstrated that binned retails can be as good as (if not better) the ES

Is the list out of date or is everyone in the Americas sandbagging? If I could find an msi board in town I could beat 25.5k (30k) on air lol.

MeanMachines score should be possible to beat, even with Lynnfield...
I would have bought a motherboard; IF futuremark would answer questions related to the competition....

I ran it with a retail CPU though. I'll post the screens while I get home. The one ES I have is a really awful B1, I used my 3005 Gulfy for it with some moderate clocks. No idea why it posts "missing CPU".
