Unhappy The botched cooling on ASUS 4850EAH 1GB. Help appreciated.

Some guy at ASUS obviously screwed this card up. I've got two cards in two computers, and in both the fan is loud as hell, sounds like a vacuum cleaner in idle. The problem is that ordinary fan controlling doesn't work. The fan has the same RPM down to around 35%. And the lowest setting I can get is 24%. In other words around 75% of the real max. And 75% is still noisier than any computer component I've ever owned.
So, when it thinks it's at 35% it's already at 100%.

Anyone know how to get the fan a bit quieter?
Btw, now two years since the release of the HD4850, is there a way to control the fan properly? And don't just fix it at a certain value?

Download GPU-Z (to get a BIOS dump) Radeon BIOS Editor (in order to edit the fan speed) and ATIwinflash (to flash the edited BIOS to your card)

So they haven't been able to fix a working way to create a variable fan-profile in two years? I still have to modify the BIOS? That's just plain ignorant.
The problem is, I'm selling these two computers, and I can't sell them like this. And I can't sell a computer with voided warranty. Therefor I can't modify the BIOS.

If the cards were for myself I wouldn't hesitate making my own heat sink, but now I can't do any modifications to the cards at all.

Is there no way to get these cards under 130dB without voiding warranty?

Your only technically voiding a warrenty by editing fan speed via BIOS as long as you don't say asus won't care even if they do notice. What you describe kinda sounds like the spinup bug thats always been there. Thats why you neeed RBE to patch it.

Spinup bug? Explain please, because I'm not to sure, since I can control the fan in CCC and it changes speed depending on load, the only problem is that it's like it adds 65% to every setting I do.
If I put the fan at 35% it gets full voltage, and if i set it to 24% it's not that much lower from full voltage.

So other than it adds 65% to every setting I make it works perfectly.

I can't remeber the details for the spinup bug but I recall something about fans not dynamically adjusting properly because of it.
