    GTX-480 cold slow mod

    Will this work like gtx-275?




    I understand there is bios mod but noone will share so we must try other avenues

    Is this IC on the 480?

    What are the #'s off it? Looks like it says ADT7478?

    IIRC, removing the thermal IC just lowers the coldbug, but has no effect on cold slow.

    You need the bios. Well ... we all need the bios.

    Yeah.. I suspect it is something within the core measuring temps and forcing the card to throttle.

    Yup, there are 2 temp sensors, the thermistor connected to the ADT7473 and the other one ( "on-die" ) reporting to the drivers.

    Removing the ADT7473 or just disconnecting the thermistor/SMBalert won't move the Cold Slow bug temp.

    It's quite funny. A few months ago I was testing the GT220 and GT240 under liquid nitrogen and the behavior is very similar to the GTX 480 behavior under cold. Yes ... cold-slow on these low-end cards as well.

    Oh, right. And I did report this back to manufacturers
