Once again, it seems like I need a lot more VDIMM that others for the same clocks. Up to this point I've only used Gigabyte X58A series boards (UD3R and UD7), I'm not sure if a different brand like Asus would make a difference or not.

Yeah but you have a good batch 920 (3845B) and a REII. I'd like to see what my sticks would do on your setup, conversely yours probably wouldn't do much on mine.

This thread is confusing as H3LL. This 2000CL7 testing scared me out of selling my 2200 C8's and buying the 2000C C7's too. There is no performance difference according to your results :o

Not surprising there's no performance difference, I'd expect the 2000MHz CL7 and 2200MHz CL8 sticks to behave pretty much the same especially considering they're using the same chips and PCBs.

i decided to try lower bclk to rule out that being my problem
    as i topped out at 19x215@4085 ddr3-1720 6-6-6 vtt at 1.44v vdimm at 1.72v
im still a little hesitant to push vtt and vdimm
    so now i tried 21x145@3045 ddr3-1740 6-6-6 vtt at 1.42v vdimm 1.70v

Must be the CPU since Radaja is using a UD3R and I have one of those plus a UD7. 3845B vs 3946A, no comparison

I used Radaja's settings as a starting point and I was able to get 1740 6-6-6 stable at 1.70v. Very strange that less volts worked.

yes not all mem like high volts theres a point in some chips where more volts = more unstable at least in my experience

Yeah, but if you go by that...

    Then the 2200 CL8's should do 2000 CL7 and then 1800 CL6.

The 2000 CL7 theoretically should be a bit better than the 2200 CL8. 2000 CL7 ram should not have much problem doing 1800 CL6 but this ram seems to have trouble with it.
