    Up until he got his 990X motherboard he couldnt do much more than 1800 Mhz...

    With SB based on maximum Mhz. wall...Whereas old hypers MXX will go together with cpu max. multi and 2133 7-7-6-20 up to 2150ish.....new bbse (like gskill pc3 17000 8-9-8-24) can do 2 or 3 steps down max multi and clocked up bclk to 2230+ 6-9-6-22 without pulling teeth

    Of course GTX2 is an exception

    Well It seems that wasn't a motherboard fault...the old ud5 could took the PSC Dominator all the way up to 2000Mhz 7-9-7, but my cpu doesnt want higg frequency and low timmings... need something new fast.

    people don't know how to properly set them, first bios on Sandy boards didn't help, ans people are also scared of the 1,65V dram voltage...

    Barr3l, nice sticks. Those BBSE under the hood?
    Anyway, your board was good for 2000 Mhz with PSC yes...but 890FX/990FX will get higher than that board did. (especially with hypers, higher yet with PSC)
    I'm interested in buying a "custom" kit from STT too...heck, they DID have a 2400 Mhz Cl9 kit out for a limited time. I find their heatspreaders the best as well.

    Getting your CPU over 2000 with BBSE/PSC will take a lot of work in BIOS, its patience and trial and error really. chew* knew/knows what he's talking about. Normally my board and CPU takes a quick S**T a 1900 with hypers...however I have validated C7 over 2100.

    i'll try to tweak my 2X 1600 9-9-9-25 sticks further & see how far can they go
    is 1.7V "safe" when pushing these modules?

    yes..up to 1.79 I would consider "safe" I have read 1.79-1.81 I wouldn't do more than 1.76 or so long-term though.
    Keep fan on them..They'll kind of let you know if they don't like the voltage
