Forget Leopard try Snow Leopard, or forget updating all together.. just boot the DVD from start up and try formating the HD and installing Lion...

If it doesnt boot the Lion disc.... am not sure, it might be the DVD wasnt burned properly?... try an external DVD reader if you got one? always had problems with SuperDrives.... so I took mine off and added an extra SSD, I use an external disc drive to burn and load Dvds....

It just wont boot the lion disc, the lion disc only show at the desktop menu and can be used by there, cant be used to boot. Im using snow leopard, it is show also at the desktop menu and at the boot menu pressing the option key but when i press osx install dvd it just loads and gets stuck at apple logo like that image, dont know if the dvd isnt well burned or if itīs just the macbook that isnt reading it properly because i dont want to waste more money at dvdīs for nothing..

Ok it seems to me that your SuperDrive is not reading or writing properly mate, I suggest using an external one.. or using an external HDD and loading it with the image, then connecting it throw the USB or FireWire and booting from it. I will explain how to boot the Lion installer from a USB device at boot up so you can install it easier, if you can find a spare external DVD reader for your mac.

OK so I found a link that explain better than me how to install it throw DVD or USB

After i used a 2009 Macbook Pro for about 3 years, i tried to install OS X 10.7.4 on my desktop station, equiped with I7 990x, Asus R3BE, 6GB Dominator GT and a nvidia 275.
After some problems with the drivers everything works now pretty well and damn fast. A pretty good how to you will find over at tonymacx86.com, which i used to.

Now i have a Desktop with maybe more power than a regular Mac Pro for much less money

This is quite sad, I was just banned from TonyMacx86, for suggesting a method of installing Mountain Lion DP... someone ask me where I got it from and all I said was...

I rather not disclose my source as to not get in trouble by the legality of how I obtained it...

And apparently I been permanently Banned for, get this ... : Blatant Disregard of forum policies on Unreleased Software or Developer Builds.... You know what?? Tonymacx F*** YOU!!!

SO they believe, any other way to do something is the incorrect way and, you shall be banned for suggesting it.

Therefore I shall drop my support from http://tonymacx86.blogspot.co.uk/ as they clearly no longer share my ideology of educating people, but to commercialise their Open Source material, which is a basic copy of Chameleon re-modified for their purposes...

People that Ask me to help them on their Hackintosh may continue to do so, but I will no longer suggest or support TonyMacX content or material....

Good Bye Tony.... and thanks for Killing Freedom of choice, speech and education..

Welcome back to http://www.osx86project.org/ thanks for staying true to your believes..

Ive been warned in other forums too simply for admitting that i'd made my own Hackintosh, and that I didn't believe I had done anything illegal (I owned a copy of the OS). Its a subject that feels like walking on egg shells to talk about.

    Got punished once...

I can relate with getting punished from Insanelymac for asking what was a SL-C bios mod. They banned me for like a day.
I honestly did not know what that was and can understand how forums that live on the edge of legality have
to send out a message to their subscribers about what right and wrong behavior. I mean when your posting on someones
forum its like walking on their property and they have every right to protect themselves legally and keep order.

On the other hand I get how its all shades of gray. Technically running OSX on anything but Mac hardware is a
infringement on the software user purchase agreement. People fool themselves into thinking putting on a Mac
apple sticker on their PC makes it legal. Truth is once Apple is done with sueing all the big guys like Samsung
they will come after Tonymac and Insanelymac and shut them down. So information is power and I would save as
much instructions there is out there and hold on to it just in case..

FOCK them, if I break the rules, for not providing information asked I dont expect them to banned my for not answering them back. they just assumed that I obtain the OS illegally so without questioning they just wash they hands and banned me... forget all the support I provided not to mention publicity... Oh well... cant be bother with legalities... at the end of the day, just cause I say suggest something I shouldnt be banned....

Much Obliged, a good thing to point out is, that because Intel has not pass certification to a lot of Asus and MSI mobos with Thunderbolt externally, its my guess that the amount of Mobos with Internal thunderbolt would probably increase...

sooo.. you can't plug in a discrete GPU? that's all? if that is all, meh, don't care!

I'm guessing Intel is being losers by charging heaps for certification.

wait.. so they aren't certified but does that rule out 100% function? :/

Ok just to clarify: Well the Non Certified Thunderbolts are the those used in many (Not All) Asus and Asrock as they use external ports for their discrete graphics .... = Not support, No Display... Why?:

The issue is that Asus' Thunderbolt card and ASRock's Thunderbolt motherboard uses an external cable to connect a discrete graphics cards DisplayPort connector via an input connector on either the card or the motherboard which connects the display signal from the graphics card to the Thunderbolt chip. This is not something Intel is at least currently allowing for and as such the two companies were turned down for certification.

For the Gigabyte Mobos using the Intel DSL3510L chip:

The thing so far. is that you can’t hot-swap Thunderbolt devices using the Gigabyte boards and this simply because they’re not detected as being a Thunderbolt device, but are instead seen by the OS as an internal PCI Express device. Since Thunderbolt is pretty much an external PCI Express interface, this makes sense. What this means is that you have to plug in your Thunderbolt devices at boot, which might not be ideal for everyone, but it’s something that we’re hoping to be able to solve given enough time. Note that things like hard drive docking solutions where you have a removable drive are still hot swappable on the drive end, as long as the dock itself supports hot swappable drives.

Further more am Not sure about, Asus, MSI or Intel motherboards with the single port DSL3310 Thunderbolt controller that have tried to attach a Thunderbolt device, as currently I don’t know if the DSL3310 Thunderbolt controller is compatible with OS X or not and it would be good to have some confirmations as to whether or not it works. So far we’ve only had a single report about the Apple Thunderbolt display in the forums, but it’s not conclusive, although a user going by the name of Einsteiniac claims to have gotten his display working, albeit not entirely flawlessly, as the display turns off before you reach the OS and as such he had to unplug the display and plug it back in to make it work.

    Final Comment:

Intel is currently the sole manufacturer and certifier of Thunderbolt controllers and as such, if you don’t meet or exceed Intel’s specification, then you won’t get certified and in turn, your product can’t carry the Thunderbolt logo. In this case it appears to be more of a political issue than an actual concern about Asus and ASRock not meeting Intel’s standard, as Intel is clearly using Thunderbolt as a means of pushing its integrated graphics solution.

This is at least so far bad news for CustoMac users, as either solution would’ve made it much simpler to use a discrete graphics card with the Thunderbolt/mini DisplayPort connectors on the motherboards. It will be interesting to see if the two companies can make some kind of deal with Intel to allow this implementation in the future, or if they’ll simply ignore the certification process and still sell their products, although the latter option doesn’t seem all that likely.

So if you would like to use 2 Thunderbolt ports, for Display + Devices I suggest buying a Mobo with Intel chip DSL3510L, which is of course certified, and the best supported under Lion and Mountain Lion.

PS sorry for the Long Post.... LOL
