    Question Question about Amp ratings...

I have a 12V case fan that has written on it 4.8A and a 12V AC adapter that has output listed as 2.5A ... It appears as if the fan is able to run at full speed just fine. How is this possible when the adapter should not be able to provide enough current?

57 watts for a fan seems awfully high. What kind of fan is that?

the amp rating on the fan is the peak usually which is just for startup so it will be drawing far less than that when just running normally

so the AC adapter is able to provide that initial 4.8A despite being rated for only 2.5A?
