Corsair H50 - Stuck temperatures on two cores.

I have my second pc using a Core 2 Quad Q8400, cooled with a corsair h50, all stock speeds.

In HWmonitor, both core 3 and 4 are stuck at 37c and 39c respectively. These temperatures never ever change, even when the temperatures on cores 1 and 2 fluctuate. (They idle around 25-30c depending on room temperature)

I've tried reseating the pump at least 5 times with no effect to speak of, and the CPU is in no way warped, nor is the mounting improperly seated.

Is this some sort of software bug? I've tried multiple temp programs, and all have the same problem.

It's not the correct temps if they don't change, it would have to be a BIOS issue or your monitoring software. It could even be the cpu itself or possibly bent pins in the socket. I don't have any experience with the Core 2 Quad so I don't know if this is a comon issue or not. Try to google temp reporting for the Core 2 Quad and see if there are known issues.

I reckon the issue is with your E8400 - well known issues with the temperature sensors in that chip.
My first one used to report up to 120c even under watercooling.

Penryn derivatives had messed up temp sensors, nothing you can do about it

Turns out I'm running into other problems too - Tried linx again to test the temps and total system lockup at 50 seconds. Now, this occurs every time.

Tried all ram sticks separate, nothing. Oh well, time to find out whats going on..

Check your vdimm speed and timings... I usually use the lowest RAM settings possible to try and rule that out as the problem.,

Vapor is correct about the penryn stuck sensor problem. I had a penryn chip on a cascade that would always stick at 20c even though it was about -70c.

Well the freezing problem was fixed, I think the NB was overheating as there was not enough airflow around it with the H50. Temps still stuck on the two cores though, Oh well :P

edit: forgot to mention that all bios settings have been default/stock
