Here's a question: what HD5830 do you plan to get? Most/all of the ref HD5830's use both slots for video ouputs; they stack the DVI ports as I'm sure you're aware.

*Shrug* Maybe you can buy a $150 graphics card with the same outputs on a single-slot bracket? But no, I haven't seen or heard of a source for single-slot brackets. Perhaps you can try Asus directly? Otherwise, hack one of the brackets up and keep the other. If one card dies, send it back with the dual-slot bracket.
