    cheap screens (3) for eyefinity.

    Hi there

i'm building eyefinity setup. i've chosed hardware parts for pc (also look out for a new watercooling build log thread ), but have no clue what lcd i should buy.

    the very first question
    LED LCD? CCFL LCD?
good thing about the led LCD is that they are more energy efficient
i'm typing for the cheapest way, so CCFL LCD =/= quality of display of LED LCD, at this price range (200-250$ for one screen). or is it not true and there is no progres in this?
CCFL LCD is cheaper way, for sure.
    and the very second question
    what resolution and size? 1680x1050 22', 1920x1080 22' or 1920x1080 24'
first is the cheapest, but i do like whatching movies on pc. fullHD will suit me very good.

    help.

remember that u need atleast 1 monitor with DP or the $100 adapter for active DP to dvi. i would go for some dell panels and get some ips 1080p ccfl with DP they are like $250-300 if i remember correctly for the ones with DP so get atleast 1 with DP native

if u get a cheap TN panel and u arnt on a corner desk so u could angle the monitors i would think that it would look terrible

edit sorry i put passive adapter u need the active adapter

I thought the HD58XX series generally shipped with one passive DP to DVI adapter. How the hell is a passive adapter $100?

Edit: That was more of a question. I'm not sure if they do ship with an adapter or not.

Edit 2: Passive DP to DVI adapters are around $10 on Newegg. Are you sure you didn't mean active adapter? Either way, can't the HD5000 series drive three displays with a passive adapter? I thought it was when you got five or six you needed active adapters.

3 monitors works fine with a passive adapter. Paid $18 for mine on Ebay.
    Using 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 Dp-VGA
Have not tried 6 displays yet.
    Total cost of 3 1920x1080 Acer 23.6" monitors (2 open box & 1 new) was $450.

will work but you will not set them up into one desktop. also you have e6 card that does not require active dp to dvi converter.

    differecne?
dvi and dp are different type of signals, not like dvi and hdmi. you need to use active converter to create signal in dp format, from dvi/hdmi signal. hope you understand me.

Works fine. Look at the Friday April 02 post. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...7468&start=195
This is where I got the idea. I'm talking about Dp-to-VGA adapter.
Edit: Sorry, confused about why pay for $100 adapter or $400 monitor when $20 adapter will work.

active converts the signal and passive doesn't and the reason why the display port to dsub-15 is because it does not need the usb power to convert the signal. i bought a 5870 yesterday and am going to be using these http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-017-_-Product for my eyefinity setup and i allready have 2 and they are nice monitors for the price.
