On an Atom Netbook with 8GB Sd card as hard drive, Yes, thats super.
I dread to think how long Windows 7 would take to boot, if I could be bothered to strip it down to get it to fit on 8GB, and even then it would trick You into thinking it was fully booted by showing the desktop before the drivers loaded, the 35 seconds is from cold and fully functional and loaded.

What I like the most about Ubuntu is to be able to use Compiz Fusion and you don't need the latest hardware use it.

It's simply the best OS to use on a notebook or for daily use on a desktop.

LTS is a great reason for an upgrade. I put this on my laptop on Friday and it impresses straight away (I was running Pardus on there prior, it's hard to top Pardus imo, best polished KDE system out there). Everything ran OOB on a T61.

Just in the process of upgrading my file servers to LTS, with the UEC install

What makes me laugh is the boot splash screen when you're running a GUI-less server edition. Maybe somebody ran W2K8 server core and thought they'd follow suit?

Don't know why anyone would be silly enough to run Desktop edition for their file server..
    No rig right now.

Wait, you mean Canonical were wrong when they thought that boot time was the most important thing people cared about other than moving the button positions to the left?

I've never had a PC that will S3 properly so I'm stuck with booting

For something that is free to use it looks good enough for me and I can use 4 desktop screens with a single monitor so I don't complain.
