Picking up a 965 EE ... what BIOS you think I would get the most out of this chip with?

Cause default VTT is 1.2V for Bloomfield and if vDIMM is max 1.65V it doesn't breach 0.5V difference safe limit.

My, idea was to use the "Reset" on my chassi to switch up to heavier OC and let it stay lower for normal 24/7
I know I could solder som wires on the MB - but I don't feel it's OK
There is no connector for Go button, just a Go button.

ya i know i just figured i'd go for it but it doesn't seem like it's gonna work for a daily setup. defference between 933 and 1000 is hardly measureable let alone noticable anyway...

i still can't seem to figure out why LinX wont ever to a 20 pass run, keeps stoping after the first pass even on 100% stock clockings and everything is in tip top shape. would be nice to to show off the 78-80 Gflops out of 20 passes since it keeps registering 81-82 Gflops on the single pass.

Probably you uncore+ram is not stable.
Stock doesn't mean stable, esp. with 6 rams.

As a new member to this fraternity I'll be adding my 2 cents. So far did one quick oc last night, 200x20 @ 4ghz, watercooled @ 1.4v, plenty of room to go in my 930 I'm sure. Mem @ 1600. I know it's nothing astounding but I'll be reading up in here and getting to it tonight. I'd like to see a stable 4.5ghz out of this chip.

    I tested REX3 new BIOS "0901", today.

I think that "0901" is much faster than "9124" on Air.
Especially, 3DMark 06 CPU test score is improved!!
Test results reported on my blog.
    "Overclocking Memo"

Tomorrow, I will test this new BIOS on LN2.
I hope, it will improve extreme cooling limit temp.

You can hit 4.5 with the 930 on water no problem. I don't remember what the magic number was exactly but I think it was 21x187, replying to this on my phone so I don't have the settings I used infront of me.

EDIT: make that 21x215, the closest image i have of a clocking near that point was 21x210 @ 1.38v (4.4ghz) on water and was at an average of 69*c at full load for my 930.

This is the fastest I can get this to run. I'm hitting a BCLK wall at 216 with memory turned up then I have to thumb down the memory to get it to 218. I can't get it higher than 218 for now :-(

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this thing to run any faster ? Whats the max volts under water I can put to a 920 DO with blowing it up ?

Its probably not your chip, these boards are no better than average at best for bloomfield (welcome to the "I just wasted $400.00" club) unless you use slowmode. For gulftowm they are very good though.

0901 appears better for my 920. Now I can do super pi 1m in an air-cooled close case system.

Well thank god I got mine for free :-)

Won the overclocking contest at PDXLAN 3 weeks ago.

I'm going to try the new bios and see how it does.

I'm loving this board though even though im kinda stuck atm.

Is it normal for this board to have IOH Temps from 70 when doing absolutely nothing?!

Should I take the Chipset cooler of and re-apply a new layer of artic silver 5 instead of the Factory compound?

    or just rma the board?

I also installed the optional little cooling block with the fan but it doesn't help....

Yes, remove the heatpipe assy and reapply TIM. They use what I can only guess is yellow dyed gutter sludge and then bake it in the oven until it turns to stone. I saw about a 5-6 degree drop in my temps and you may see much more. If still sucks RMA it.

Yes, a little bit. But it's just the voltage to run super pi 1m. The same o/c on 9124 bios with same Vcore can't run pi 1m.
